Greetings music/Firehose fans.

My name is Clint Featherstone and I am currently working on a documentary about the band Firehose.
The film is entitled "Things Could Turn Around"

If anybody has any recollections about or footage of the band that they would like to share with me then please email me at the address below.

This is a low budget project and my first film so I'm afraid there is no money involved but all participants will recieve full credit and an invitation (including free entry) to Hot Docs 2007 - Canadian Documentary Festival in Toronto where the film will premiere.

Many thanks,

Clint Featherstone.

I sat on Mike Watt's bass backstage at a fIREHOSE show. He was very nice about it, considering. I would assume that you are looking for better stories, however. It would be hard not to, actually.

"Things Could Turn Around" Update Bulletin 1

1- Can people please stop emailing me about the late 80's metal band FireHOUSE, this film is about the band FireHOSE.
As fascinating as your improbable tales of groupie molestation and draining bottles of Jim Beam with C.J. Snare are they have nothing to do with this project...."

Two google results, one of which is this thread, so I guess it was parked.

I should c&p the rest, it might hold the answer.

2- It looks like the soundtrack may be restricted to using only cuts from Firehose's later Columbia recordings, in my opinion these were the better releases anyway.

Why? SST Records have quoted me ridiculously high licensing fees for using songs from the albums Fromohio, If'n and Ragin' Hard On. Gregg Ginn is refusing to budge on the price.

Claiming to need the money for cat food is a poor excuse for greed dude.

3- I have received an email from director Tim Irwin accusing me of trying to cash in on the success of his Minutemen documentary "We Jam Econo". He is concerned that I am "trying to "portray this as some sort of sequel" to his documentary.

Well Tim, firstly how can I be making a sequel to a film I haven't even seen and secondly, I had the idea for this film way back in 98, how do I know you didn't hear about it and then rush out a prequel in order to grab all the glory. Huh?

4- Finally, can the kid from Chapel Hill with Super 8 footage of Ed Crawford doing wheelies on his BMX please get back in touch. Dude I lost your address.

Many thanks,

Clint Featherstone.

thread has me listening to "If'n" for the first time in decades -- loved it a lot back then; it sounds BETTER than I'd remembered, which an unusual thing to have happen with an SST release!!

though she denies it to the press, (Joan Crawford Loves Chachi), Saturday, 3 December 2016 19:51 (seven years ago) link

Agreed. I'd always ignored that one in relation to the other albums, but I revisited it on a whim a few years ago and was surprised by how good it sounded. I think Ragin' is still my favorite but that's just because any album that contains "Brave Captain" automatically wins

Anyone know the story behind "For The Singer of REM?"
