Flash and the Pan: C or D, S/D?

just picked up the self titled album for 2 bucks and thought i was only gonna like Walking In The Rain, but the whole thing so far is really fucking good.

They are terrific - and underrated.

I love them. Especially California. Dude has a great sing-speak voice.

I also like Love is in the Air by some Scottish guy named Young, though apparently not related, which they produced.

"Walking In the Rain" is the stuff of brilliance.

I have come around to madly loving this, especially "The African Shuffle."

"Walking In the Rain" (which is still really good) is, at best, the fourth-best song on their debut album, behind "Man in the Middle," "Lady Killer," and the immortal "Hey St. Peter." ("California" is about equal with "Walking," I'd say. Sixth place = "The African Shuffle" or "First and Last".)

I love "Midnight Man" so much.

I like "Media Man" as well.

I have the "Waiting for a Train" 12 inch and it is great.

C., and very dear to my heart. One of the 1st bands I ever considered mine - along with Cheap Trick & The Knights in Satan's Service.

1st LP is great all the way through. Lights In the Night is darker, but still damn good. Headlines has a few keepers.

Okay, I was totally wrong (Bob = me). Bought a two-dollar copy of the debut the other day, just for the hell of it. It's far from classic. The stuff I loved way back when sounds incredibly grating now: "Hey St. Peter" & "Ladykiller" being prime offenders. The more moody, downbeat quasi-funk tracks are pretty okay, though. Oddy enuf, that's the stuff I didn't like as a kid. Wonder if I'd like Lights In the Night and Headlines now? I remember them being darker, less comical/ingratiating.
