is it bad as the early blogs reviews claims it to be?

I like the song with Jarvis a whole lot. Haven't paid much attention to the rest. On the whole, it's quite mellow.

el juan (el juan), Friday, 5 January 2007 12:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Very predictable Air-by-numbers. A mellower Talkie Walkie

is anyone anticipating the new Baaderonixx? (baaderonixx), Friday, 5 January 2007 13:17 (seventeen years ago) link

"A mellower Talkie Walkie "

even more mellow than mellow you mean

emekars (emekars), Friday, 5 January 2007 13:39 (seventeen years ago) link

it is good background music for pocket pool...

hank (hank s), Friday, 5 January 2007 14:54 (seventeen years ago) link

I was going to say. So utterly soporific, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:05 (seventeen years ago) link

not as good as the charlotte gainsbourg alb.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:10 (seventeen years ago) link

oh god, what has happened to the French luminaries?? Daft Punk better not pull another fast one

wogan lenin (dog latin), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Did they go with Nigel Godrich again? I hope not.

mh. (mike h.), Friday, 5 January 2007 15:21 (seventeen years ago) link

i like it.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Friday, 5 January 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

i like it too. all the PR talk about the oriental strings isnt really deserved as they dont really stand out or anything. but its good.

mahalo 4 ur kokua (grady), Friday, 5 January 2007 18:05 (seventeen years ago) link

I like it lots, too. Much more than "Talkie Walkie". Still, they haven't made a record that works as a whole since "10,000 Hz Legend", I think. Plus, none of their records since have sounded as widescreen. Very compact and in-your-ear-whispery that Air now.

Jay Vee's Return (Manon_69), Friday, 5 January 2007 20:33 (seventeen years ago) link

I think it's great. Not as good as "Talkie" or "10000" but better than "Moon." Totally solid.

Davey D (Dave Depper), Friday, 5 January 2007 22:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I do wish that they'd saved a few of the better tracks from the Gainsbourg album for this one, especially the one about the plane crash. That would have been a sweet Air song.

"Did they go with Nigel Godrich again? I hope not."

Why not?

Nigel (Nigel), Monday, 8 January 2007 06:34 (seventeen years ago) link

AWKWARD

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 8 January 2007 06:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I like it as well. Definitely not a disappointment in my eyes.

Harpal (harpal), Monday, 8 January 2007 08:02 (seventeen years ago) link

It sounds like the sort of thing you'd play if you were having a dinner party on the moon. There'd still be no atmosphere, though. [sorry]

davidsim (davidsim), Monday, 8 January 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

two years pass...

haha yes

I love this album. It is my favorite Air. So meditative and melancholy. I like the way the instrumentals break up the album into sections.

becky & robbie's bogus journalism (The Reverend), Friday, 13 November 2009 16:52 (fourteen years ago) link

my least favourite :(

i think Air may have the most 'front-loaded' albums of anyone else out there (tho not sure if that includes Pocket Symphony, nothing on it stuck in my mind)

mdskltr (blueski), Friday, 13 November 2009 17:15 (fourteen years ago) link

This is probably my favorite nowadays. "Photograph", "Left Bank" , "Once Upon A Time" with those Tony Allen drums ... I think sublime is a good word.

Marcus Brody Ta-Dow! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Friday, 13 November 2009 17:47 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah, sublime....

everything just kind of unfolds imperceptably like a beautiful flower

becky & robbie's bogus journalism (The Reverend), Friday, 13 November 2009 17:52 (fourteen years ago) link

Good album, GREAT cover. The site was good too.

Spencer Chow, Friday, 13 November 2009 18:08 (fourteen years ago) link

four years pass...

yeah so since the time of release i've done a real 180 on this one - this is probably their best album. A very specific feel, reminds me a bit fo Tortoise at times

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 12:05 (nine years ago) link

this is totally their best album

steendriver dysphoria hoos (The Reverend), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 18:43 (nine years ago) link

Still love the song with Neil Hannon but can't remember much else about this album. I actually really liked it when it came out but haven't been back to it in years. It was the last Air album I bought.

Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 18:55 (nine years ago) link

the album after this sucked terribly and then I forgot to check out the one after that even tho I heard good things about it

steendriver dysphoria hoos (The Reverend), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 19:03 (nine years ago) link

Love 2 was horrible. This was very good, still love Mer du Japon, Left Bank and Photograph.

gyac, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 19:33 (nine years ago) link

A real luxury hangover record this

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 23 April 2014 20:10 (nine years ago) link

listening to the full thing now. it has a lot of painful memories for me, but it's ridiculously lovely and sad. had forgotten how much I loved Night Sight.

gyac, Wednesday, 23 April 2014 21:25 (nine years ago) link

I should give this another shot, found it reaaaaallly dull at the time

Simon H., Wednesday, 23 April 2014 23:55 (nine years ago) link

three years pass...

Underrated, the last truly great Air album.

Davey D, Thursday, 15 February 2018 03:26 (six years ago) link

never heard this, seems like a mistake
