Ive heard it said that the weight of the worlds problems
Is enough to make the ball fall right through space
That it aint even worth it to live
With all thats goin wrong

Well, let me just go down as saying
That Im glad to be here
Here with all the same pain and laughs everybody knows

Some men think theyre born to be king
Maybe thats true
But I think passing love around
Is all we were born to do

Let them build their kingdoms
Let them make the laws for this world to heed
cause you and I make life worth living
Right here in each others arms

Im here to love you, baby
No more loneliness
No more emptiness
Im here to love you

what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away
What seems to be
Is always better than nothing

Oh, I hand them this life
To do what they will
Theyve got to find their way from here
Oh, show us the way
If they only knew
Oh, show us the light
Show them what light?

It shines from within
You make your own day
You make your own night
And sometimes you win
Oh, show us the way
But you always get through
Oh, show us the light

one month passes...

Maybe it's true what they say about.
Maybe we can't make the ends meet.
Maybe we'll all have to do without.
Maybe this worlds just incomplete.

Well we all look for truth in this life.
Searching with different eyes.
So hard living in a desperate world
We all do the best that we can.

Some people see a change.
Some will remain the same.
Others will live their lives under the gun.
Some see the road as clear.
Some say the end is here.
They say it's a hopeless fight but I say "I gotta try".

Oh, I hand them this life to do what they will,
they've got to find their way from here.
(Oh, show us the way!)
If they only knew!
(Oh show us the light!)
Oh, show them what light?

It shines from within, they make their own day,
they make their own night,
and sometimes they win.
(Oh, show us the way!)
But they always get through.
(Oh, show us the light!)

Oh, why do they come and ask for more?
They've got stars they don't have wishes for.
They're just giving up their blame to me.
Oh, how do those fools survive?

Bit of theology there from big Mike. I like how he's god in the song.

A few weeks ago on a Best of Soul Train, Big Don Cornelius announced "Sweet Freedom" as being by "the great Michael McDonald."

Show me one thing that will never fade away,
What goes with the fall, returns with the spring.
This whole world is made that way,
Who's to know if love will stay.

sweet freedom is one of the few finest reasons to ever listen to a lite-rock radio station

The Kenny Loggins-Michael McDonald union was holy.

You don't know me, but I'm your brother
I was raised here in this living hell
You don't know my kind in your world
Fairly soon the time will tell
You, telling me the things you're gonna do for me
I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see

Well it's a dog-gone shame
But never too late for change
So if your luck runs low
And reach out and call his name, his name

Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there (up and over)
Yah mo be there
Whenever you call

You know I believe all we really have is time
No use worrying, no use wondering why
Cause through it all, we're only here to laugh and cry
It's meant to be that failure only brings another way
Every heartache always has another day

Oh, I thought love was something I could count on
But it took her to show me that

Love lies
Right to your face
Love lies

Smilin' with the risin' sun
Livin' like we've never done
Goin' all the way

one year passes...

You know anyone can say what's wrong
That don't make it right to me
We weren't born into this life
To walk away from everything
Once you get the blues in your stride
All you need's a song to survive
You think by now we would know that
We're gonna keep this train a-rollin'
We ain't gonna break down on this highway
We could sit here waitin', worried, wonderin'
Wishin' we were somewhere other than right here
But we're right here
