taking sides: megadeth vs stevie wonder

leaving aside the question of whather mustaine et al got the idea for "captive honour" (oh cute they spelled it the british way) from stevie's "living for the city", which incorporation of man-meets-the-law-dramatic-dialogue is more effective? dave talks back to the judge! but stevie sounds more believable. and there's a longer guitar solo in the megadeth one. I assume this has something to do with prison rape.

of course this is sub-dave q but what can I say he's the master

Josh, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

of course stevie moved toward yawningly tedious 'complex' long-form music, and megadeth moved away from it

I'm not sure if I've heard any bongos on this megadeth record either

Josh, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

but there is sorta a ballad

Josh, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

"skin o' my teeth" vs "don't you worry 'bout a thing"

They are Apples and Pears

that sounds like a lameass sentimental fool thing to say, you must be a stevie fan. don't fear being decisive! choose or be turned into a robot and/or skeleton! grr!

josh is this tsunami of zany meant to disprove me and jess both saying you used to be funnier 'back in the day'?

ethan, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

'tsunami of zany' is copyright (c) the big book of quotes josh hasnt said yet but will if he keeps posting eight things in a row.

ethan, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

just kidding josh i love you.

ethan, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

i do too josh. at least you knocked those other threads off the top, like you intended.

jess, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think it's clear that Josh needs to start blogging again.

Jordan, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

this was a serious question you poofters. prepare to be turned into robotic skeletons! or skeletal automatons!

Josh, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

er... Megadeth are better.

jel --, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

by the way jel even though I said we'd turn people who didn't choose into robo-skeletons we can still do you if you want. I mean, obviously you have an affinity for that sort of thing

Josh, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah, go ahead, sounds cool. What does Vic Rattlehead now that Megadeth have split? Bands are so incondiderate.

jel --, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Megadeth wins singularly because of the entirely rocktastic "Peace Sells But Who's Buyin'?"

Stevie Wonder loses because of the following insipid, cloying aural offences: "I Just called to Say I Love You," "Ebony & Ivory," "That's What Friends are For" and "We Are the World."
