Been playing this really brill recording of the Fantazias by William Lawes.

Do you have any favourite recordings of this period of music? There are a few composers I'd like to check out (obv Dowland, but others that I've been reading about like Marais and Ferrabosco).

Any additional pointers?

There is some stuff for EVERYBODY there. tx.

Great gig, I like the pairing as I have no hesitation in playing Lawes together with this stuff at home. Lawes' music had parts of it distributed in between all the avant-gardery. There was at least 2-3 mins tuning up by the consort before they launched into a new piece, seemed like their response to all single notes hanging in the air. Absolutely love the tuning interludes.
