i guess there's not much discussion there actually

i haven't heard the album but i think the song is a bit underwritten, i really want it to take off at some point and it's just kind of "pleasant" - kind of the 'bad' side of ne-yo's writing sometimes

really, no other thoughts on this? not being a ne-yo expert, can't really compare it to his other songs, but I don't think it's underwritten on its own. I like that it keeps its cool for the most part, and actually was reminded of old girl group, call-response stuff when I heard it. The singing seems a bit out of place, or perhaps CM is more of a jazz/soul singer than a pop one (?). Also, that fact that she says "I think I'm just about over being your girlfriend" instead of "done being your girlfriend" makes it impossible for me to get the chorus out of my head.

after a many more listens, I think the kick drum doesn't leave enough space for the vocal, but other than that, I like the production.

Her background has been more neo than ne-yo, more jazzy than pop, so that's why it never takes off. She's real popular here in DC, a town that thanks to every evening "quiet storm" programming, embraced her brand of laidback r'n'b. She's gigged around here alot. I like this but like her "Love is You" number better.

Also wtf @ 'underwritten'. The chord progressions couldn't be more eloquent and nicely dramatic, and the lyrical repetition works perfectly.
