been diggin this guy for a few months ~ kinda a blissed out, more melodic but also glitchy casiotone for the painfully alone

idk this does it for me more than the rest of the glo-fi chillwave trendy shit

I like a lot of the stuff on Causers of This, but the vocal style is kind of a turn-off for me. Still, a good album. I don't even know where I heard of this. I think I downloaded Talamak off some music blog, and it sat around for weeks before I finally listened to it.

allmusic's review calls it "forgettable", but that's too harsh a word to describe what I think is good about the album: It's catchy, but in a subtle way. It doesn't stick in my head like a iPhone ad jingle might. I remember as I'm listening to it, because there is a lot happening in these songs - lots of little parts that pop up and go away just as quickly. Albums with that quality tend to last longer with me.

Anyway... surprised there's only one post on this thread.

Wears its influences a bit thick (J Dilla / Daft Punk) but kind of enjoying this so far.

LOVE the Tegan and Sara remix (but can't find it anywhere...)

I might go see them on monday with The Ruby Suns and Oryx and Crake(?) even though I'm not a big fan on any embellished flowery indie/pop music and/or animal collective/grizzly bear trippy stuff.

When I'm drinking I think I could easily like songs from any of these 3 bands. I'm not as uptight as my first sentence^ makes me seem. I'm just saying I don't buy that kind of music.

underneath the pine is soundin a lot more "formed" & anthemic than his previous stuff -- liking elise & new beat & still sound the most

"still sound" def stands out but the whole album is gr8. not very "chillwave" either more like caribou/ dude makin music style

'New Beat' sounds like a song written around a cool bass line

Liking the new album a lot so far. A bit dancier and while I wouldn't say his voice is stronger, he seems to be learning how to work around its limitations better.

Album cover reminds me of pre-dreads Bobby McFerrin.

i like that the rev got really into toro y moi. i didn't like anything in return as much as he did, but i was really into underneath the pine . like "still sound": so good! anyway, respect.

Anything in Return still(!) hasn't left my regular rotation. It's prob one of my two or three most played albums in the past couple years.

I only really got that into the singles from the Underneath the Pine tho.

Early return: it's split between Royal Scam-ish jazz rock and Big Star power pop. Obviously very 70s sounding. I dig it, but I'm also biased toward anyone who knows their way around a 7th chord.
