where has this band been all my life??
i'm surprised they lack their own thread, or ACTUALLY any mention whatsoever, if our whirring search engines are accurate.
i will try to describe them in a few words. big-band cut-up r&b jazz hip hop. OK? with a zappa-esque ambition of arrangement and a sort of "out-but-tightness". they are sort of everything i want right now. (almost.)
anyway they have a new album out but from what i've heard i still prefer their 2007 self-titled, with the absolutely astonishing "on thin ice" feat. lylit. whoever lylit is she can sing. i love how you can hear the clicking of the sax keys on this track, it's so close up. in real life you'd never hear things like that. if the sax was that close to your ear you'd be deafened.

the only review of these guys in the iTunes store is from ME! i feel like i'm in the twilight zone here!! seriously these guys should be opening for beyonce or something.

seriously the 2007 album is just relentless. the new one is sparer, less live, more raw. haven't really heard it enough yet to know though.
