Really digging this so far, even if it's not exactly a radical departure from what he's done previously.

Isn't it out in October? Has it already leaked?
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 29 July 2010 03:26 (thirteen years ago) link
Yeah it leaked the other day. I was pretty shocked that it happened so early.

That's just silly.
I'll probably wait till I have a physical copy this fall. His other records aren't really "summery" and I'd be surprised if this one is.

haven't heard his stuff before but this is really nice

If you like this one you'll definitely like his previous two albums. Great winter music.

New album
http://www.thefader.com/2015/01/22/benoit-pioulard-announces-new-album-shares-so-etched-in-memory
Thomas Meluch's music as Benoit Pioulard has long occupied two distinct sonic spaces: soft-focus indie-pop and quiet, dusky ambient reverie. For the project's fifth album, Sonnet, Meluch went full-on ambient, and So Etched In Memory is a taste of what's to come on that album, which sees release on March 30 via Kranky.

I like the idea of a fully ambient album. His m.o. has been in need of a shakeup.

yeah, that could be cool.

Prompted by another thread ... really enjoying this:

Has made me dig out Temper, which is also sounding very nice (Not sure I was into it, particularly, at the time).

"Marre" is very beautiful...I've also been enjoying his Noyeax EP. Perfect outdoor meditation sounds.

"Marre" sounds like the original version of something that got remixed on Sonnet

fsr i had mistakenly thought all his stuff was wintry ambient drone (which sadly doesn't hold my attention), but the folk songss are just beautiful, and i love the ambient stuff in that context
― flopson, Saturday, 8 October 2016 23:28 (seven years ago) link
Only his album from last year is 100% ambient. Everything else, including his work as Orcas, is a mix.
― sctttnnnt (pgwp), Sunday, 9 October 2016 01:08 (seven years ago) link
Not a new album but the one I keep returning to.
The Orcas stuff is also really nice
― calstars, Tuesday, 24 January 2017 12:28 (seven years ago) link
Rafael Anton Irisarri and Benoît Pioulard previously combined as Orcas, in somewhat unexpected fashion with an accessible, gentle ambient post-rock sound - Benoît's soft voice floating on top of dreamy piano pieces and the distant plucks of distorted guitar strings. Rafael and Benoît's newest collaboration moves them deeper into more recognizable textured ambient territory as Gailes.
