Wimpiest Band Ever?

After the "discussion" on the black metal thread where most of us piled on Pantera/Phil Anselmo for being macho/tough guy knuckled headed bullshit I was wondering who the wimpiest band ever was and did a search thinking there would be a thread on it , but no.
So who is the wimpiest band(s) ever?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 21 February 2011 22:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Maybe we can use the thread as a nominations process for a poll later if there is no overwhelming winner.

For some reason pop folk duos tend to look extremely wimpy:

Simon & Garfunkel
Hall & Oates
Chad & Jeremy
Zager & Evans
Kings of Convenience
The Carpenters

Owl City rip off Postal Service. Postal Service are most definitely 'wimpy'. If your entire sound and strategy is to rip off another band, and that band is wimpy, then yes, you are also wimpy.

the funny thing is with these 80s rawk bands, the people who listened to them actually sometimes thought they were hard men listening to metal. A couple of people (older) in my school were like that, and when I moved to Hamilton i came across a lot more. Im surprised the local thrashers never beat them up tbh.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 03:18 (thirteen years ago) link

maybe not the wimpiest band ever but coldplay are like a wimpier u2. that's pretty wimpy.

I don't see how any hair metal band could be the "wimpiest band ever". Even if their image was harder than they actually were, their music was still rougher than Simon & Garfunkel, or Erasure, or Modern Talking, or... You can't be the wimpiest ever if you've chosen a non-wimpy genre.

Boy Least Likely To, duh.

Was just thinking about how if you replaced the singer with Barney on songs like "I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon To Your Star," it would be pretty impossible to tell it apart from other Barney songs, unless you recognized some of the darker themes in their lyrics.

I think in the interest of fairness this should be restricted to bands' who have presented public evidence of their wimpiness - ie, bands who have been beaten up. So off the top of my head:

Danzig

― Tuomas,

Being in a metal band doesn't mean you're macho or hard, tuomas. Far from it. Plus a lot of these bands were very wimpy and made very wimpy music.
