might as well start this thread
I stumbled across "Sail" on the radio the other day. I completely fell in love with it, despite (or, more honestly, because of) the witch-house-meets-LCD-Soundsystem melange it presented. I dug it enough to look up the album on Spotify and fell even harder for it (everything is kind of "LCD Soundsystem pastiche meets this genre").
Anyone else digging this or, as I suspect, does everyone totally hate this?

yeah this is definitely one of the few faux-indie hits of the Foster The People wave on alt rock radio this year that i dig (although the first time i heard it i thought maybe it was that Danger Mouse f/ Jack White thing)
when i saw this thread on new answers i thought "oh is this gonna be an ironic enthusiasm/hate thread" and then i saw who started it and knew it wasn't

ha yeah, I keep thinking I should hate stuff like this when I see it described, but when I hear it done well it's my favorite thing ever

lol apparently this guy was in a 'post-grunge' band called Hometown Hero, and unsurprisingly i like their big single too:

"guilty filthy soul" is my favorite song right now. I love how sloppily this seams to have been put together.

I had totally ignored these guys but was just prodded to watch two videos by my 14-year-old nephew, and they're pretty good. Or those two songs are, anyway. He informed me, with all the self-awareness that a 14-year-old can muster, that "this is what the kids like these days."

did he show you the band's video of "Sail" or the viral one made by the 2 girls?

2.5 years after this thread was started, "sail" is climbing the charts in the UK, up from 31 to 17

haven't listened to the new one tho
"Not Your Fault" is still my 4th favorite of their singles but they're all pretty great. new album's solid, but it's not the debut.
