I've only heard a couple of tracks so far, but these guys sound interesting, if anything.

Don't know how popular they'll get here but they've been getting some serious love in the blogosphere in the past months. I've seen their tracks in the popular section of hypem a few times and all of their tracks in there have like 4k and 3k 'likes'.

Said the Gramophone says it's like Eagle Eye Cherry + Dj Shadow. That sounds awful tbh.

I haven't listened to it yet but all these descriptions make it sound terrible!

Breezeblocks is early Mystery Jets with Orange Juice choruses while Dissolve Me is post-Skins generation Foals cuddling up to Fleet Foxes by the campfire.

hear hot chip in here, but no trace of pere ubu. okay i guess, but neither of these tracks is doing much for me.

when I first heard of them they were being described as shoegaze and hadn't yet added the alt-J bit. I was like, good luck.

ok I watched the breezeblock video. having a violent reaction against this dude's voice. hideous.

Something Good is well, good. The rest of the tracks I'm having trouble with.

This band's abject shittiness makes me SO ANGRY.

Why?! That's a great video, regardless of the song! I didn't see it coming, anyway.

I like Fitzpleasure better than anything else I've heard from this band so far. I do actually quite like the guy's voice, but then I'm a big fan of unusual voices - sounds kidn of tonal, like he's speaking drunk Chinese or something.

This band's abject shittiness makes me SO ANGRY.

I listened to half this record and this is basically the 10's indie Dave Matthews Band, right? Instead of a an electric violin player we get a guy dicking around with keyboards?

In fairness, I have my "Not in a mood to listen to new music" toggle turned on right now, but I never heard an 'indie' band before Alt-J that sounded safer than they are catchy. Alt-J make the two oil and water respectively.

God, imagine waking up one morning and discovering you had this dude's voice.

I thought Alt-J was a rapper until today.

Aside from some of the guy's quirkier vocal stylings I've decided they're quite good.

A mate of mine with good taste reps hard for this band but they've always sounded like a shitty anaemic Radiohead to me

"Left Hand Free" has been on alt-rock stations, the ones that still exist, every hour for the last 8 months or so fwiw. but obviously not all bands that do that sell out MSG.

Haven't really liked any Alt-J output since their first album, including the first two tracks released from their new album.

i avoided this band because they sounded like they were shit and then I heard "3WW" from Relaxer and really liked it.

but then I heard another song and it was shit so who knows

3WW is so good. It's a shame about literally everything else they've ever done.
