This dude is awesome. Those who haven't heard Darker My Love should seek out their first two records immediately. Near-perfect psych-pop-rock.

Love White Fence, too. Glad to hear this new album rocks just a bit more than the previous stuff.

maybe it's just a logical step after the excellent collaboration with Ty Segall (Hair). He is responsible for most of this album great songs.

And he put out the Jessica Pratt album from last year. Which, imo, was outstanding.

Solid choices all around by Mr. Presley.

Darker My Love were good, though pretty generic psych rovk?! i think they had 3 albums.

nostormo, Thursday, 28 March 2013 19:35 (eleven years ago) link

Generic is probably fair. But super hooky. And hooky is OK with me.

The third was, uh, different than the first two. First two were better. Third one I barely remember, tbh.

nice, I love the first two albums. family perfume felt a little like outtakes to me but Pink Gorilla sounds good so far.

Really starting to love this album, a lot more than the TY collab. Totally fucking retro, but great.

Late to this.. I have a memory of seeing Sic Alps before they released anything, and it was one of the best rock shows I've ever seen. I like-don't-love all of their records, always wished they made a really great one instead of a lotta good ones. This band gets closest to my memory of the sound of that Sic Alps show, if that makes any sense

OK, so I guess this guy has a ton of records but I only just recently got the one on Drag City from 2014. What next?

If it makes any difference, I don't think I ever really "got" Ty Segall..

no one else have a listen?

probably moved up to first place in my white fence rankings.

every song has its place and goes somewhere, even though there's more than a bit of shambolic, half-baked randomness

his songwriting's so tight and enjoyable

more than ever imo

Weirdly Drag City releases haven't been getting to Chicago shops much lately (at least Reckless), so I just finally ordered this direct along with the new Pearls Before Swine reissue and Masaki Batoh solo record.
