First one I'd heard and loved was Mor Mors but then I heard others and loved 'em too (especially in the summertime). Haven't listened to their more recent efforts. Let me know if I need to.

Hard to choose between the first five, but I don't like the new ones much at all.

I would vote for the International Harvestwe record over any of these, but going for Djungelns Lag here.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Thursday, 16 May 2013 02:55 (ten years ago) link

I'm going to have to go back and listen to all of these, what a chore I will love every minute of.

Int'l Harvester, and Harvester LPs are both incredible, and Parsons Sound has it's moments but when the summertime hits it's all about TD&S for me. Hard to pick from the first four, but their version of "The Last Time" is the main reason I keep coming back to Mors Mors so I'm gonna stick with that. My favorite album cover of theirs as well.

Parson Sound has it's moments, moments that stretch out into eternity and back, moments that resonate like someone held god's own tuning fork up to the entire universe, moments where every quantum-entangled particle in existence vibrates at the same key, moments that stop the sun in the sky...

Moments!

Ha! Don't get me wrong - I dig PS. I just find the avant-hippie sprawl of what-came-after a little more conducive to summertime inebriation.

parson sound is so HEAVY

first is best

a huge highlight of my musical life is seeing these guys play five or six years ago in a mansion in madison, with no neck opening. still can't believe it actually happened

Dang, what?! What a show.
Voted s/t but it's the only one I have. Write- in for Thomas 'Mera' Gartz (?! Is that his name? I always f it up) solo record which is the quintessence of springtime bloom in sound.

Maybe I should hear the rest of these...

Mors Mors (or actually the bonus live album that came with it?) is the one with the 20+ minute version of the Int'l Harvester song "Sommerlaten", right?

Yes, on the CD it's the last (glorious) track.

hard to choose between mors mors and djungelns lag

am0n, Sunday, 19 May 2013 21:08 (ten years ago) link

Djungelns Lag wins for me but I'd take either Harvester or International Harvester over any of these (but just barely!)

God that 1972 bootleg is SO great. I'd have voted that if it was on there. But as it stands I'll need a few days to think about this. Great poll idea, interested to see the results! Also cosign on Harvester > Trad Gras (but also cosign on the 'just barely' part). I hardly ever listen to PS but they did sorta invent Bardo Pond, didn't they?

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

"tegenborgsvalsen" is so enormous for a two and a half minute jam

one year passes...

Just got back from Stockholm where I picked up Gardet 1970. I'd never heard this band before but I knew they were sort of a big deal

It's a killer album btw
