I think Ringo records are best experienced as a "prime wallow," as Meltzer might say. By which I mean that one day you buy yourself dollar copies of Sentimental Journey, the Atlantic albums, and Stop and Smell the Roses. If you're a real nut, you get yourself a copy of the album he did with Joe Walsh in '82 or so that was only released in Canada or something!

Didn't realize he was my favorite Beatle until watching that Mayles Bros film and the Anthology series last year: He was always easily the coolest Beatle on camera, funnier than the others, better-looking than advertised, the best dressed in retrospect, game but not flip, ironic but not surly or withdrawn, a good dancer, intelligent, and an amazing drummer under conditions most drummers can only imagine. Critics sold him way short, and that's to say nothing of any of this solo stuff, which I haven't heard.
