i thought limbo was good but it was more of the same and not that surprising. a good end to whatever era you'd call alien in a garbage dump to limbo.

anyway I retract my aoty statement. it's really good but i can't even stomach to listen to it a second time. it makes me physically nauseous and disoriented, like i have the flu. it's great but i don't know when i will want to hear it again. i used to listen to his music a lot more but now it just makes me queasy. but...that's not a knock on him or the quality of the music. it's just that upsetting

you are really selling me on this album

i'd d/lded a promo copy b/c the blurb had made me intrigued, this thread pushed me into actually listening to it, i don't get it at all

i read a review in the wire that kind of slagged this off a little bit, while making me want to hear it quite a lot. i liked the last black dice album a lot.

Still haven't heard limbo, but I always felt like Hermaphrodite and Alien in a Garbage Dump were both more "the trippy poster hanging on a friend's wall at a neighborhood barbeque" than any "highbrow, art gallery inscrutability".

Those albums are really good, sure, but this one is looser and more fun

alien and hermaphrodite are his best by far. strange days is up there too. for pumpkins fans, it's kind of like a 'pastichio medley' for copeland's world :)))

i have a couple really awesome 7"s (one of them is called PARTY and is particularly cool) but the lp from last year was disappointing... will check this out but not without trepidation

Nick, those LPs def have their moments - gems are scattered though his whole solo career.

new ep Ms Pretzel is his best since Limbo imo... still feel like he's not surprising as much anymore, kind of coasting on a lot of the same sounds and ideas

ha, I just bought a few tracks from this a few days ago on itunes after stumbling on.

of course my itunes GC was almost dead by then so i couldn't buy the whole thing.

yeah, i feel this, though. BUT. the thing about EC is that by and large (for me anyway) how his songs hits me totally depends on headspace. like mood rings. sometimes he's pedestrian, sometimes he's awe-inspiring, sometimes it feels like i'm high.

joke in the hole remixes 12" very nice. as usual, panda bear makes a completely new song instead of remixing whatever he was assigned

New album, Black Bubblegum, is very good. I keep thinking "Cannibal World" is going to morph into Blur's "Chemical World".

it's a slight, but fun listen. like on and fuck it up the best (the poppiest ones i guess). he sounds a bit like buzz osbourne singing on this

Alien in a Garbage Dump is one of my favorite albums ever and this thing is blowing my mind. he started coasting with Joke in the Hole imo. Limbo was his last amazing album. Ms. Pretzel, Masterbater, and Jesus Freak were good but slight imo. This thing is a welcome change, a really sweet switch-up. Reminds me of Ariel Pink's lo-fi records.

I had always admired his greasiness but this is low budget in a way that sounds like he threw it together in one night after he came home wasted

new one sounds like a shitty ween album
