The Silent Servant split ep with Broken English Club is superb.

New Anthony Naples on TTT is real nice.

ed.b, Saturday, 15 November 2014 12:54 (nine years ago) link

I really like Anthony Naples but to be honest I wasn't that impressed by that EP

Also I'm going to see DJ Sprinkles tonight :D

paolo, Saturday, 15 November 2014 13:36 (nine years ago) link

That Frank and Tony track is lovely, I'd never even heard of them

Ditto, I listened to the clips from You, Go and Girl from their Soundcloud. This is really nice.

MikoMcha, Saturday, 15 November 2014 14:03 (nine years ago) link

As lex noted, frank = francis harris, and before that adultnapper, which is interesting because under that name he was behind a lot of really bland bottom-of-the-barrell tech house. Tony = Anthony Collins, who was also behind a lot of relatively better tech house.

ed.b, Saturday, 15 November 2014 14:34 (nine years ago) link

My fav adultnapper record and fav sprinkles record are....the same record

How was DJ Sprinkles paolo?

boxedjoy, Sunday, 16 November 2014 19:14 (nine years ago) link

Super! She played a few of the tracks from Queerifications and a whole bunch of other deep house tunes. Not afraid to let a track roll out for pretty much it's whole length, which I appreciate in a DJ

New Portable single "Surrender" is almost a pop song that maybe doesn't 100% go here but it's brilliant

― lex pretend, Thursday,

2004, but it was a four track 12", i presume the other tracks were unreleased - been difficult/expensive to buy for ages, didnt realize it had had a digital release (Whats a Girl To Do is the track thats made it difficult to buy)

saer, Thursday, 4 December 2014 10:42 (nine years ago) link

D1 was a good label for a while, the bombjack 12" is a huge personal fav

saer, Thursday, 4 December 2014 10:43 (nine years ago) link

did breaker 1 2 get posted last year? i heard a clip of it around when it came out, forgot about it, and just came back to it again and am really digging it.

Just seem this at top of thread, yeah I like this a lot - I havent bought many 2014 releases, only liked about 15 records this year, but this was one of them

saer, Thursday, 4 December 2014 11:13 (nine years ago) link

Yeah it's not been a great year on the house/techno front but there has been some decent stuff. I've really liked the Joey Anderson, Gesloten Cirkel, Kassem Mosse and Objekt albums. The Livity Sound remix tracks were sick. Omar S put out some quality material. All Caps and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams did Glsgow proud

paolo, Thursday, 4 December 2014 19:36 (nine years ago) link

you know it hasn't been the best year but i still think we're in a minor golden age for proper house / techno!

and i agree wholeheartedly w paolo on the good stuff

the late great, Thursday, 4 December 2014 19:54 (nine years ago) link

that fatima yamaha web release with all those tracks actually came out in 2012, and yeah it's amazing. idk why it isn't listed on discogs but here's the bandcamp link: http://d1recordings.bandcamp.com/album/fatima-yamaha-done061

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 4 December 2014 20:01 (nine years ago) link

i think there's overall less bobbins i like lately, but the ones i do like i really like a lot, and idk if i've changed or house and techno has changed, but it doesn't feel as tied to any particular trends, there seems to be a lot of different bubbles existing simultaneously that mix in nice and unexpected ways. me and house/techno are in a good place right now

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 4 December 2014 20:05 (nine years ago) link

digging that general ludd track

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Thursday, 4 December 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

I didnt mean to do a state-of-the-nation post, I think things are always changing, and experiences are not the same anyhow. Ive heard a huge amount of great music this year, as usual no idea what most of it is or when its from, but the records i have bought have just mostly ended up not being 2014 releases, but some of them were. Theres so many great records out there, i dont mind when they are from

saer, Thursday, 4 December 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

it's probably a sign that I'm out of the loop since it feels like this has been a great year.

ed.b, Friday, 5 December 2014 00:37 (nine years ago) link

um there's a new steffi album ??!??!?!?!!

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 5 December 2014 06:07 (nine years ago) link

the steffi album was a slight letdown for me. the first track is like detroit electro and i was hoping for more in that style, but the rest is straightforward classic techno. still pretty nice though.

one time gaffled 'em up (one time), Friday, 5 December 2014 07:59 (nine years ago) link

so if anyone could recommend some recent electro that sounds like this, i'd be grateful.

How recent is recent? I buy a lot of records, dont always pay attention to the year!
