Waiting For a Change of Poll: the Cyndi Lauper TRUE COLORS Album poll

I'm the first to concede that this album's not as strong as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, but imo there still good tracks on here and certainly worthy of some discussion.

Honestly my big idea for this poll is just to get ppl to listen to album again and maybe discover one or two more songs they'd forgotten/didn't know they liked/etc... beyond THE song

Boy Blue has so many vocal hooks that don't...quite...make it for me. I love the song, but it feels kinda disjointed somehow.

My favorites are Change of Heart and Maybe He'll Know, aside from True Colors which no matter how many times I hear it still makes me cry like a stupid baby

This will be nice to watch. At the time no album disappointed me more -- a superstar sell-out to my ears, and remains so. She really shouldn't write every song.

is "Change of Heart" still played? That was one of those massive hits which disappeared.

You're right about "Boy Blue." She sounds as if she's experimenting with melodies and keys in the chorus.

"Maybe He'll Know" is prob my pick.

The only time I ever dig this one out is when I want to hear Change of Heart, so it's been eons since I've played it all the way through.

I didn't know that 'Maybe He'll Know' was from her Blue Angel days

there's footage of her performing it with them on youtube

Cute video from Johnny Carson with a live performance of Change of Heart at the end

despite my misgivings about 'Boy Blue' her 91 performance of it in Japan is really good... seeing her hitting those huge notes kinda adds a new level, I like it a lot better than the album version personally . Video quality here is garbage though, sorry

The setup for that joke in the Carson interview was a mile long, but totally worth it.

songs that deserve a re-listen -- '911' and 'Calm Inside The Storm'

my feeling about a lot of these songs is that this would have been a great first album. But because Girls came first, it blows everything else out of the water, and everything feels weak in comparison to that album. But the more I listen to True Colors the less patchy I find it. (Still dunno how I feel about 'What's Going On' though. Kinda hard to listen to that one. ) A lot of the songs are pretty hooky, and hold up to repeated listening. imo..
