Been waiting for the chance to vote for Sugar Ray in a poll so "Every Morning" it is. Even better than "Fly" imo

Frontier Psychiatrist, Monday, 21 April 2014 22:35 (ten years ago) link

Some great songs!

As much as I love "Every Morning," "I Get Lonely," and "No No No," Jennifer Paige crushes all. Local radio played the dance remix and it sounded like ace Mariah.

"Crush", no competition. One of my all-time favorites.

breastcrawl, Monday, 21 April 2014 23:07 (ten years ago) link

woah 'crush' totally is a lost mariah song. busta/janet over destiny's child, more out of the dnb alleles in 'what's it gonna be' standing out so much now.

"Summer Girls"

This list is terrible.

Mr. Snrub, Monday, 21 April 2014 23:13 (ten years ago) link

"Crush" parked itself in the top ten that fall and early spring '99 and went noplace, forcing me to go "It's just....AH...some little THING...CRUSH" for months.

Sugar Ray, LFO, Lou Bega, Marc Anthony are the ones that I seem to remember best. Gonna vote Sugar Ray just because I heard it recently and it still sounded pretty good.

Every Morning narrowly over Adia, but boy is there some crap in this list. I can't even detect a hook in the 98 Degrees song.

I GET
SO LONELLLLYYYYYY

I don't even remember what the Jessica Simpson song sounds like.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 04:10 (ten years ago) link

what's it gonna be

groovemaaan, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 04:52 (ten years ago) link

Trying to choose the worst/most laughable lyric in that LFO song would be practically impossible, lol at Rich (RIP) jacking lines from both Rakim and MCA

Frontier Psychiatrist, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 07:41 (ten years ago) link

I only recognize and appreciate 'every morning' and 'adia' of this list. From that Mclachlan album 'building a mystery' and 'sweet surrender' specially were better singles. I can't help relating that Mchlachlan album and alanis morisette from the whole lilith fair scene which was lame but I'm ok with it... they fit the
decade in some weird wat and felt right at the time. 'Angel makes me want to kill myself, though'

Stupid cellphone text fucked all of my sentences. Sorry.

voting "summer girls" with "i wanna love you forever" as runner-up. most of these i either don't like much anymore or don't remember.

I can't find the thread anymore, but yesterday it led me to discover Saint Etienne's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

le goon (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 1 May 2014 22:33 (nine years ago) link

closer to Mariah, I think.

Did you hear the dance or regular mix?

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 1 May 2014 22:39 (nine years ago) link

yeah i definitely thought "Crush" was a Mariah song the first 50 times i heard it on the radio while washing dishes at my first job (which is my main memory association w/ the majority of these songs).
