Yeah - they're kind of addictive. I have tan and red and absolutely want more.

I also didn't realize they're kinda of adjustable when I first got them, they were really tight! Now they fit like a dream.

my worishofers arrived & they are v comfy!!

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 17 June 2015 01:48 (eight years ago) link

Found these for half price the other day - even if they just last one summer I'm okay with that. Fun and practical shoes for baby's first summer (slip ons make life easier).

They had ones with a whole bunch of leopards printed on them but they weren't in my size even though they looked online too, sigh

These too, also no more in my size. They're just limited edition I guess :/

Can't believe I'm wearing Vans again #90sTeen

I saw the dog version of those!

Maybe I should go to the Vans outlet, hmmm.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 18 June 2015 02:07 (eight years ago) link

I tried on Worishofers because the price was really reasonable--$70 or 80? But they didn't suit me, the proportions were off somehow. Bought Camper flatforms instead lol

four weeks pass...

My feet had been sore & horrible for the last year - I had big swollen lumps on top of my feet & it hurt to wear any kind of flat shoe...& i think i am finally, FINALLY getting back to normal

My nerdy Rykä comfy walking shoes made a huge difference, since I walk twice a day at work - cannot recommend them enough over regular sneakers

And i bought a pair of birkenstocks. I know they're kinda ugly & whatever but omg, game changer. I had sworn off them bcz the last pair I had never fit right & just made my feet aaaache. But I got properly fitted at the shoe store & have been dedicatedly breaking them in every day and now they are really comfortable.

It is the best thing in the world not having to think about how much my feet hurt, and if it means wearing ugly shoes from now on well fuck it, I'm IN

My shoe philosophy in an ugly, orthopedic nutshell. I'm glad your feet are better! Foot pain makes everything else suck a little bit more.

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 16 July 2015 22:25 (eight years ago) link

I booked my first ever podiatrist appointment to take care of an ingrown toenail and I have to bring my normal shoes in, presumably for the chiropodist to yell at me about. :/ stupid cute round toe flats! I foresee a future of box toes and Birkenstocks just around the bend.

they usually don't yell

and if they do, kick them in the nuts & yell YOU ARE NOT MY REAL DAD & leave

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 16 July 2015 22:35 (eight years ago) link

looool

I got that pair of black and white sandals I posted about from Marmi, and I bought some black Camper flatforms and some Payless sneaks and I am off to the races all summer long basically.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 16 July 2015 23:19 (eight years ago) link

I had to try on a bunch of difft sandals to find ones with the right shape of arch to support my feet tho, it wasn't easy to say No to all those other cute ones that wanted me to take them home.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Thursday, 16 July 2015 23:20 (eight years ago) link

I love my Birkenstocks and I don't care.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 23 July 2015 18:54 (eight years ago) link

My boss said "oh I heard they make your feet spread out and get big" so what?? They make my feet feel less bad.

tokyo rosemary, Thursday, 23 July 2015 18:55 (eight years ago) link

I bought sneakers at the Vans outlet because they were a Alice in Wonderland Liberty print.

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 July 2015 19:18 (eight years ago) link

Damn right you did.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 23 July 2015 19:50 (eight years ago) link

My mom still attributes my current foot problems to my having worn Birkenstocks for most of the 90s because in doing so, I let my feet spread out and didn't get them accustomed to uncomfortable shoes such that wearing non-Birenstocks caused bunions and plantar fasciitis whereas if I had toughened up my feet by wearing high heels starting at age 16, I wouldn't have such problems now.

I'm sure that makes sense to her.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Thursday, 23 July 2015 19:52 (eight years ago) link

I clarified with the chiropodist about whether feet get bigger as we age (because I have a fear of sizing out of already hard to find 11s) and he said no, they just get wider. So Birkenstocks be damned, biology would've got you there anyway!

These shoes are so insanely comfortable, I've never had foot support like this in my life! Although the second day of breaking them in was akin to having strapped granite rocks to my feet. But they are better today and my toe is healing! It's going to be a year until I have a full, proper toe though :( Took out a good 1/4 of my toe which seemed excessive but it was a bad ingrown nail so good riddance.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 24 July 2015 13:50 (eight years ago) link

My feet have definitely gotten bigger over the years. I'm sure standing on my feet all day doesn't help.

tokyo rosemary, Friday, 24 July 2015 14:19 (eight years ago) link

Yeah I wore a 10 as recently as 2007. Now I'm an 11, sometimes 11W, depending on the shoe.

Where is the intersection of sublime comfort and stylish style? I want really nice cushy athletic-style walking/standing arch support cushion pillow supreme but I also wanna look fly.

Where do I turn?

like right now I have some Onitsuka Tigers and I went to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor last night and their sets are like 2 hours and halfway thru the show I had this epiphany of like "oh my god, I can't, I am too old for this shit, I need great shoes, I need them so bad"

Y Kant Max Read (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 29 September 2015 16:52 (eight years ago) link

I like those Sketchers with memory foam insoles. I don't know about the stylish part but they are v. comfortable.

two weeks pass...

bought a pair of birkenstock london (closed shoe style, not slip-on) for fall

i am wearing them with socks to break them in because the heel rubs ... but the footbed grabs my thin socks & they slip down & bunch up constantly.

anyone experience this & have suggestions for a not-too-thick sock?

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 19 October 2015 18:40 (eight years ago) link

this drives me insane! and i do not have cure :/

just1n3, Monday, 19 October 2015 20:19 (eight years ago) link

;_;

going barefoot with them rn but when the weather gets cold i may be glueing socks on my feet

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 19 October 2015 20:57 (eight years ago) link

maybe some kind of thin insole that will create some friction?

just1n3, Monday, 19 October 2015 21:43 (eight years ago) link

hmmmm

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 19 October 2015 23:26 (eight years ago) link

one month passes...

i got these

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81vf-Pqbu7L._UX500_.jpg

for a fancy dinner. they're absolutely perfect, not too high, totally classic and really comfortable (and they look way nicer irl). BUT the heel keeps slipping - more so in the left, but also the right. i tried those inserts that adhere to the inside of the heel, but they don't make any difference. the pair i originally tried on didn't slip at all, and they have that great lip at the top which seemed to be preventing that.

any advice? i don't have time to find new shoes or order a different size. i'm not sure i can place a pad in the ball area to push my foot back, because i have an insanely high instep, and it would push the front of my foot up against edge to hard and then cause an unsightly bulge.

just1n3, Thursday, 17 December 2015 05:06 (eight years ago) link

Wear them without stockings + after you've been standing in them for an hour or so the leather will heat up and form to your foot more and stick to your now slightly moist skin. Literally that's the only fix I have for this problem. I have it all the time.

Oh actually it might be a problem since that platform isn't going to flex where you need it to, across the toe break. Your foot bends, the shoe doesn't...voila.

Yeah and I gotta wear pantyhose. I ordered a couple things off Amazon that might help, fingers crossed
