Ayo. Thinking of having all my mop cut off. I usually just turn up to somewhere I have had recommended as a good reputation, not knowing what I want and just letting them do whatever they want. Anyone know of any good websites to look at pictures of what to ask for? Any recommendations? Only requirement really is that it must be easy to manage, I cannae be arsed with mucking around with my hair every morn.

Not looking to go all crabcore before anyone suggets it.

I um. Don't know much about men's hair. I like the Tintin quiff in men young and old, plus am a big fan of the allover #2 buzz for men of a certain age with thinning. Basically anything clean and not too long, partial to side parts and sideburns.

TBH I'm not sure what men do about this if they don't have good heads. I think there are as many versions of "short back and sides" as there are heads to wear them, so I hesitate to generalize.

Can't go wrong with this or even a little shorter. And it still works even if you have straight, sicky-uppy hair, you just get that little Paul Weller bird-of-paradise spike in an impromptu way without it looking douchebagedly cultivated.

It doesn't seem particular to SMQ in any important way, I just see it as a normal man's haircut of its time. He's just a good icon to demonstrate the look now it's not current.

A little bit long still, but baby steps! Certainly a very big difference from before. The old hair was kind of gr80-ish, tbh, but he would have had like gel or "texturizer" or something like that in his.

I like the young morrissey look where it's shaved around back and loosey goosey on top and in front. Looks pretty helmet friendly, I don't know if that's punk enough for you.

^^^ that's kinda what i wanted when i got my haircut and sorta just came out normal looking

I think you have to have to make sure there's a big enough difference between the shavedness of the back and the loosey goosiness of the front as well as a clear line of demarcation.

peacocks, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 19:54 (thirteen years ago) link

right that's what didn't happen

That is a classic, classic haircut.

that hair while beautiful is clearly nearly impossible to execute

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 20:57 (thirteen years ago) link

tone down the loosey goosey and you've got an A+ do, imo

Many a poor man has been called out on attempting (and failing) the Morrissey, you gotta have guts

I don't mean to go all out morrissey, just the general idea.

My friend tried to show his stylist a drawing of Tintin once, before getting a haircut. The results were kind of heartbreaking.

three years pass...

this is a really dumb fucking article and i have no clue who its subject is, but when did this haircut start getting popular? i see it all the time now (talking about the haircut, not the beard, and i'm in the US even though the article is about the UK):

Yesterday my wife informed me she always thought Ozzy's 70s hair was cool. I think we're going to try this out. DGAF.
