I think I've mentioned this on other threads, so sorry if I'm getting redundant here, but my dad ran the Scholar Coffee House in the 60's in MPLS, and booked and recorded TONS of acts during his 30 years of tour sound thereafter (all with artist consent, BTW). He also put out Leo K0ttke's first very OOP album, "12-Str1ng B1ues live at th3 sch0lar". He only pressed 1000 vinyl copies, and we have the masters (including the vinyl press plates), so that'll probably be the seed money one for all the rest, which include John Fahey, Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Big Mama Thornton, tons of additional K0ttke, etc. etc.

SO MUCH FUN. I should have been an archivist.

jacking k-house sort of thing i guess, i'm fairly new to the game and would really appreciate some objective criticism and advice. i don't eq or use compression or anything because i don't really understand it, plus i'm just using fruityloops so sound quality is pretty wack i guess. um yeah.

The last one seems to be a bad link.

Steve Go1dberg (Steve Schneeberg), Saturday, 3 February 2007 01:23 (seventeen years ago) link

But my objective advice is to use more EQ and compression.

You stole the punchline from my joke. Nicely done.

I had to compose and orchestrate a few bars of humorous music for a class, so I wrote a little ditty in the vein of the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme for strings, flute, english horn, bassoon, tuba, trombones, and timpani:

The MIDI-ness enhances the comedy, I think.

Here's what we sound like right now.

Also, for Sovietpanda, in case it's helpful. Recorded really fast and then just chop chop chop chop chop in Live. It's not by any means done or a showcase, but it is "of the moment." :)

We're finishing an album, so making tracks right now is more playtime than anything else; but we're transitioning from Reason to Live for a lot of our music-making, so it's also downtime to learn new software. Fun!

Yeah, when we get closer to release dates (i.e. getting my dad to motivate to write the liner notes and concentrate on the first few releases instead of obsessively concentrating on the other 600 something tapes.) I'll let y'all know more.

This is, of course, a dumb thing to complain about (OH NOES I HAFF SO MUCH MUSIC TO DEAL WITH!)
