Remix of a friend's vaguely inebriated funk jam. Everything is sample playback from chops of the source material he gave me and ableton's default effects modules, no plugins.

I ought to upload the original, it's pretty catchy in and of itself.

Fine amusement indeed. I like the voice that says "CHESKY CHESKY CHESKY CHESKY" or whatever it says.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Thursday, 4 January 2007 04:10 (seventeen years ago) link

"das mis- das mis- das mis- das mis- das miststück, das miststück, das bitch, das bitch"

I have no idea why they decided the chorus should be deutsche but knowing dan & anthony they probably figured german sounds better through a vocoder.

Wd like to hear the original too.

If anybody else is interested in offering me the appropriate chunks of multitrack recordings for remixing purposes I would be totally stoked to do it, this shit is more fun than putting found text photocomics on flickr, for real.

I could send you some tracks from new Fake Fics demos but there's a bunch of instrumental bleed and we can't stay on time.

here's the newest Maps of Norway song we've been playing...this is a live record from the lovely Hexagon Bar in south mpls.

I was using my friend's from the other band's bass rig, so the bass is SUPER FUCKING LOUD (way tooo loud) but it's not a terrible sounding live boot:

Right now, I sound like either an unrecorded (as of yet) string part I started writing for a friend of mine, or the sound of remastering archival blues and folk reel to reels for the label my father and I are in the process of ressurecting.

This might get me to do something out of peer pressure, though. I'll let you all know.

Heaven-wise, I sound mostly like this:

(I'm never GISing heaven with safe search toggled off again, BTW. Page two is unsettling.)

Peer pressure! We should totally turn this thread around--we pressure ppl to put stuff up! YEAH!

Jubalique (Jubalique), Thursday, 1 February 2007 06:04 (seventeen years ago) link

or the sound of remastering archival blues and folk reel to reels for the label my father and I are in the process of ressurecting.

?? that sounds awesome...where did you get the reel to reels? what kind of stuff is it?

M@tt He1g3s0n: oh u mad cuz im stylin on u (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 1 February 2007 17:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I think I've mentioned this on other threads, so sorry if I'm getting redundant here, but my dad ran the Scholar Coffee House in the 60's in MPLS, and booked and recorded TONS of acts during his 30 years of tour sound thereafter (all with artist consent, BTW). He also put out Leo K0ttke's first very OOP album, "12-Str1ng B1ues live at th3 sch0lar". He only pressed 1000 vinyl copies, and we have the masters (including the vinyl press plates), so that'll probably be the seed money one for all the rest, which include John Fahey, Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Big Mama Thornton, tons of additional K0ttke, etc. etc.

SO MUCH FUN. I should have been an archivist.

jacking k-house sort of thing i guess, i'm fairly new to the game and would really appreciate some objective criticism and advice. i don't eq or use compression or anything because i don't really understand it, plus i'm just using fruityloops so sound quality is pretty wack i guess. um yeah.

rio natsume (rio natsume), Saturday, 3 February 2007 00:36 (seventeen years ago) link

The last one seems to be a bad link.

Steve Go1dberg (Steve Schneeberg), Saturday, 3 February 2007 01:23 (seventeen years ago) link

But my objective advice is to use more EQ and compression.

I had to compose and orchestrate a few bars of humorous music for a class, so I wrote a little ditty in the vein of the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme for strings, flute, english horn, bassoon, tuba, trombones, and timpani:

http://media.stevegoldbergmusic.com/comedy.mid

The MIDI-ness enhances the comedy, I think.

Here's what we sound like right now.

http://www.190mphmonkey.com/music/uploads/pop-anythingyouwant.mp3

Also, for Sovietpanda, in case it's helpful. Recorded really fast and then just chop chop chop chop chop in Live. It's not by any means done or a showcase, but it is "of the moment." :)

We're finishing an album, so making tracks right now is more playtime than anything else; but we're transitioning from Reason to Live for a lot of our music-making, so it's also downtime to learn new software. Fun!

Yeah, when we get closer to release dates (i.e. getting my dad to motivate to write the liner notes and concentrate on the first few releases instead of obsessively concentrating on the other 600 something tapes.) I'll let y'all know more.

This is, of course, a dumb thing to complain about (OH NOES I HAFF SO MUCH MUSIC TO DEAL WITH!)
