Seems Porcello is on pace for the same fWAR than 2013, but with a much lower k/9 and a lower GB%.

The first year he had to deal with Fielder and Cabrera at the corners, he gave up a career high in hits allowed (the league high). The following year, his K/9 spiked from 5.5 (his current career average) to 7.2. His Ks went up by 35 and his hits allowed went down by 41.

I've always really dug him. Glad he now has Cabrera at first and a third baseman who can at least move laterally a bit. I'd love to see him supported by an elite infield.

like not even shitting on wins here, that guy literally just wrote an article listing various wins-per-year totals that could get him to 300, without using a single statistic besides wins

is he an excitable 13 year old tigers fan, cause that's the type of thing i would've done at 13

"could ricky p get to 300 wins? well. if you give him 13 wins per season through age 39, he'll end up with 260. but let's go nuts and say he average 38 wins a season through age 88. he will most likely reach 300 wins. now let's say global warming destroys civilization in a few years and no one cares about baseball anymore. in this scenario, he most likely will not reach 300 wins."

Checking Justin Verlander's 2014 season, he has 1.9 fWAR...and 0.1 bWAR. 1.8 seems huge to me.

high babip, low strand rate. 4.02 FIP 4.88 ERA. SIERA's a reasonable 4.39. nothing in his batted ball profile seems to be off, he just isn't getting strikeouts and none of his pitches have positive pitch values besides the slider. fastball curveball and changeup all went from great to terrible in the past two years.

Sharp through three, gassed in the fourth and hanging damn near every curveball. He can't be fully recovered from his surgery.

I'm watching the end of Jays vs Tigers and just finding out now about Joba Chamberlain's mountain man beard.

So not the best day to go twelve innings then.

Never in a million years would I have done what Detroit just did--14th inning, man on second with two out, and they gave Cabrera and Bautista IBBs to load the bases. Ball one to Francisco, then he swings at what I think was ball two, hits a piddly little ground ball to second. The Jays have left the bases loaded three of the last five innings.

I have no idea how Munenori Kawasaki keeps his average above .225 (he's around .275 right now). Three times this game they've pulled the outfield in as shallow as you can, and three times he's hit little chip shots right into someone's glove. It's literally like he's up there with a sand wedge.

RIP everyone involved in this baseball game, apart from Brad Ausmus, who was ejected 15 innings ago.

So of course the Jays' game-winning rally in the 19th began with a Kawasaki chip shot to left...Melky Cabrera was on base eight times today (three hits, five walks--three intentional); Bautista was 0-7 until he got the game-winner.
