yeah as good as they've been in the 1st inning, they've been godawful in the 9th

frogbs, Tuesday, 6 June 2017 17:01 (seven years ago) link

just curious - how are you all feeling about the brewers being buyers at the deadline, trading in some of that prospect depth to give it a go this season?

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 13 June 2017 15:36 (six years ago) link

if they're still over .500 in a few weeks I'd say go for it, at least grab a reliever or two. 86 wins could take this division.

frogbs, Tuesday, 13 June 2017 16:13 (six years ago) link

Wow team got hot again

I want them to be buyers. Not asking them to sell the farm, or even really give up anything in the system, but we gotta get at least one more dependable bullpen arm. Hoping we could take advantage of our low payroll and maybe buyout an expensive contract or something. I know it's too early to contend on paper but the window looks pretty open right now and I think we'll kick ourselves if we don't take advantage.

think it's always been obvious that his April power surge was mostly the league having not adjusted to him yet

that said, Thames is still a breakout star and one of the year's best stories, everyone knows about Harper and Trout already, plus Harper is polarizing and Trout has the personality of a wet napkin. plus Thames looks like a pro wrestler. not exactly a mystery why MLB would use him in their ads

in other news, wow @ that play by Arcia last night, also nice to see Knebel tie a (rather obscure) MLB record

I'm in the tv trailer for the brewers/marlins game, nbd

the streak lives!!!

frogbs, Saturday, 1 July 2017 03:26 (six years ago) link

The brewers are a fun baseball team. Except for Braun. I hope he's injured forever.

Karl Malone, Saturday, 1 July 2017 05:10 (six years ago) link

uh....hope?

frogbs, Saturday, 1 July 2017 20:36 (six years ago) link

:)

Evan R, Friday, 7 July 2017 13:20 (six years ago) link

8 games over. Nearest rivals are 1 game under. The all star break is next week. At what point is it alright to start hoping we make the playoffs?

Evan R, Friday, 7 July 2017 13:21 (six years ago) link

hopefully the front office is. I know it's not their "time" yet but they are unexpectedly hot in a year in which both the Cubs and Cardinals are underperforming. a situation like that isn't going to come along too often.

frogbs, Friday, 7 July 2017 13:37 (six years ago) link

Their BP playoff odds are up 24% in the last week, to 49%. Love to see them win the Central, fuck the Cubs for the rest of my life.

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Friday, 7 July 2017 14:31 (six years ago) link

Fangraphs still not optimistic but they've always been strangely bearish on the team. pre-season they were projected to have the worst record in baseball.

frogbs, Friday, 7 July 2017 14:47 (six years ago) link

Damn, looks like the team may be serious about going in

https://www.brewcrewball.com/2017/7/7/15934292/brewers-trade-rumors-sonny-gray-jose-quintana-starters

This is so exciting. This is our window, and we have the depth to make a real push. The team will likely be better in a year or two than they are now, but that's not guaranteed. What is almost certain is that the NL Central won't be so weak in a year or two.

Evan R, Friday, 7 July 2017 16:42 (six years ago) link

JESUS SAVES!!

frogbs, Saturday, 8 July 2017 02:43 (six years ago) link

gotta love the 4 run, 1 hit inning

frogbs, Saturday, 8 July 2017 02:44 (six years ago) link

At least they would get more than a playoff push rental with Quintana and Gray than they did with CC Sabathia a few years back.

earlnash, Saturday, 8 July 2017 04:18 (six years ago) link

fully hopping on the brewers bandwagon.

Looking forward to popping my Miller park cherry today!

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 16 August 2017 16:19 (six years ago) link

nice! been there 4 times this year, it's a blast. got to see Bartolo twice (!!!) and Bautista nail the scoreboard...pretty cool even if they lost all those games

frogbs, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 17:50 (six years ago) link

good one to go to I see

frogbs, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 21:26 (six years ago) link

The Pirates were 6-for-12 with RISP. The Brewers were 0-for-0. Brewers win, 7-6.

mookieproof, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 21:51 (six years ago) link

Ya. There were a lot of bombs.
I was down the 3rd base line and absolutely dying in the sun.

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 17 August 2017 04:42 (six years ago) link

Huge win today

frogbs, Monday, 28 August 2017 02:47 (six years ago) link

Not a drill, y'all. It's September and we are playing meaningful baseball. I expect we'll flame out in a week or two... but maybe we won't. Gotta savor this.

Evan R, Friday, 1 September 2017 20:56 (six years ago) link

yea unbelievable, that's the second major injury to a starter as a result of an at-bat

huge game today, if they can win I'd say the division is up for grabs

frogbs, Sunday, 10 September 2017 18:46 (six years ago) link

it may be!

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Monday, 11 September 2017 03:04 (six years ago) link

yea they could be playing for the division two weekends from now, I'm stoked

frogbs, Monday, 11 September 2017 03:12 (six years ago) link

go brew crew, like these guys a lot

Michael F Gill, Monday, 11 September 2017 03:13 (six years ago) link

can tie for WC2 with a win tonight

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 20 September 2017 22:42 (six years ago) link

do it for Jimmy, boys

frogbs, Thursday, 21 September 2017 02:09 (six years ago) link

Despite last night's disappointment, they've won 9 of 12. Be nice to win 3 of 4 in this Cubs' series, but two of their starts are given to guys named Suter and Woodruff.

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 21 September 2017 11:42 (six years ago) link

those two have been good!!

frogbs, Thursday, 21 September 2017 13:24 (six years ago) link

Yeah, i just don't know em

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 21 September 2017 14:37 (six years ago) link

that's really been the surprise of the season, they've been able to cobble together a decent rotation despite losing their opening day starter and having to demote both Peralta and Garza. losing Nelson really sucks. kinda like how Counsell is just going for it right now, he's managing like they're in the playoffs already. it's even more amazing because this team is really not all that good. I don't think anyone could've thought they would have a legit shot at making the playoffs heading into the final week.

frogbs, Thursday, 21 September 2017 14:56 (six years ago) link

It seems pretty likely that a not-all-that-good team from the AL, and possibly the NL, will make the tournament.

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 21 September 2017 15:01 (six years ago) link

man this is probably the best game of the year so far

frogbs, Friday, 22 September 2017 03:27 (six years ago) link

welp, gotta win the next 3 to have a prayer in the division

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 September 2017 10:50 (six years ago) link

wow that was frustrating. crowd was about to explode in the bottom of the 9th. gonna suck if the whole season comes down to who hit the bag first there

frogbs, Friday, 22 September 2017 13:25 (six years ago) link

it was a crazy game. the cubs got lucky a few times.

na (NA), Friday, 22 September 2017 14:22 (six years ago) link

though jeffries came pretty dang close to giving up three HRs in the 10th instead of just one. i'm still not convinced that rizzo didn't get one.

na (NA), Friday, 22 September 2017 14:38 (six years ago) link

the atmosphere at Miller Park for these games has been incredible. love it.

frogbs, Saturday, 23 September 2017 02:55 (six years ago) link

i honestly regret the pirates winning that game on wednesday
