Granderson really has come back from the dead. Can he play shortstop?

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 29 June 2017 01:08 (six years ago) link

tbh Cabrera at 2b has been ok so far (small sample size though). Can Walker play 3B/SS? His injury is the one that bums me out the most at the moment.

Michael F Gill, Thursday, 29 June 2017 17:43 (six years ago) link

Jose Reyes moved into second on the Mets' all-time hits list last night with 1,420, passing Ed Kranepool. David Wright's record is 1,777.

Sandy Alderson on where Matt Harvey is in his recovery: "You mean where he is other than Page 6?"

— Adam Rubin (@AdamRubinMedia) June 30, 2017

sandy!

(a colleague saw harvey in the west village this morning; unsure if it was an early day or late night for him)

mookieproof, Friday, 30 June 2017 21:22 (six years ago) link

feel kinda bad for degrom -- he'll obviously be all right, but he's not even hitting arbitration until his age-30 season

mookieproof, Saturday, 1 July 2017 04:03 (six years ago) link

I was at the game tonight, and at the park at 2:30 for the SABR-Mets session.

Sandy on how far away Rosario is: "About 2500 miles."

Jonathan : I’ve been having an argument with my fellow disgruntled Mets fans. I believe literally anyone other than Conforto should be on the trading block in the right deal (including Thor, assuming market return based on a full recovery). I just don’t think you get another run like 2015 out of team built around young pitching due to injury volatility. What say you?

Dave Cameron: You listen on anyone, but I don’t think tearing it down to the bones is the right call. I’d move the rentals and then take another shot next year.

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 11 July 2017 17:40 (six years ago) link

Yeah, so much of the starting position players will be gone next year that it will feel like a new team already. As long as the pitching bounces back they should be in contention.

Michael F Gill, Tuesday, 11 July 2017 22:09 (six years ago) link

this might be a good opportunity to dump terry tho

pair of 2-run HRs for Conforto.

Watch, they'll sweep Oakland this weekend, either ARI or COL will be swept, and they won't sell next week.

Supercreditor (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 22 July 2017 01:38 (six years ago) link

i have the same worries about the pirates : /

their front office is pretty fuckin cold-blooded tho, and doesn't have the NYC media to deal with

mookieproof, Saturday, 22 July 2017 01:50 (six years ago) link

I'm feeling strangely attached to Bruce & Reed right now. Cabrera, Granderson, and Reyes, less so. Walker is about to come back to make things even more crowded, and there's still the Rosario question for August and September.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 22 July 2017 04:47 (six years ago) link

The Mets activated second baseman Neil Walker from the 10-day disabled list today but were immediately hit with yet another dose of daunting injury news. New York announced that infielder T.J. Rivera is headed to the disabled list with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Friday, 28 July 2017 22:22 (six years ago) link

It makes sense if Reed is about to be traded in a day or so. Also, taking Ramos off the market increases Reed's value by default.

Michael F Gill, Saturday, 29 July 2017 17:12 (six years ago) link

rosario up!

mookieproof, Monday, 31 July 2017 21:07 (six years ago) link

Apparently going to be the everyday SS too. Dom Smith can't be too far behind.

Michael F Gill, Monday, 31 July 2017 21:27 (six years ago) link

btw Wright has started 'low-level' baseball activities :(

Are the Mets really considering picking up Asdrubal's option for 2018, or are they just trying to create (literally any) demand for him as a waiver trade candidate?

Eno Sarris
Dude's been worth $8.5 million every year save one in his career, really. And how much does a Mets fan hate having Asdrubal and Wilmer around Rosario going into the offseason anyway? Leaves you options -- if Wright retires, have a chunk of change for an infielder and guys you can move around. Or spend on a CF.

Rosario w/ second triple in 2 games today

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 3 August 2017 20:37 (six years ago) link

Amed Rosario is the first MLB player with 2 triples in first 3 games since Gerardo Parra in 2009, and first #Mets player to ever do it.

also the fastest met home-to-third in the statcast era (11.4 seconds)
