In the MLB or at any level? Because it's safe to say that Kershaw is a lot more likely to tear up AA/AAA than Adam Jones is the MLB, but there is also a good chance that Kershaw doesn't get call up til September.

Longoria will probably put up the best raw #s, but Jones (@ CF) is probably going to be the most "valuable" (esp. since he's the oldest and most likely to make MLB adjustments of the bunch.)

Alex in SF, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:52 (sixteen years ago) link

F: Johnny Cueto.

Steve Shasta, Friday, 11 April 2008 22:53 (sixteen years ago) link

MLB. These are the five in the current issue of biweekly ESPN The Magazine. The odds are "who will blow up in the bigs this year."

Shasta, can you start another poll. We need to catch up to Ip3 anyway.

jay bruce can fuckin hit, but playing time for any of these guys is pretty hit or miss

mookieproof, Friday, 11 April 2008 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah Bruce's biggest obstacle in Dusty Baker.

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd say that Jones (unless he gets injured) is pretty likely to start 150 or so games this year. And Longoria will get called up by June or so. The other three I am less optimistic about (although if the Angels pitchers keep dropping Adenhart could be up sooner too.)

Haha well I am basing these opinions almost entirely on what I read by Law/Goldstein/et all. It's not like I've seen any of these guys haha.

Longoria might get called up now, since Aybar's hurt.

Bruce's plight is not aided by the fact that Corey Patterson is mashing right now, lending Dusty considerable credibility.

Steve Shasta, Saturday, 12 April 2008 15:39 (sixteen years ago) link

I wait til they come up to get interested.

Just watch, the poll results formatting is probably going to turn out all boxed and Droste Effect like my NL Central poll.

I voted Kershaw but Longoria looks like the front runner.

felicity, Thursday, 17 April 2008 23:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Longoria put up some gaudy numbers for a 22-year-old: $17.5 million, six years.

Y'know, this ain't exactly rocket science, but it merits repeating. COREY PATTERSON, YOU ASSHOLE.

Christ fuck Dusty.

"I do?"

You said you were going to vote for Kershaw above, but you obviously didn't.

Alex in SF, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:47 (fifteen years ago) link

To be fair, Bruce isn't even on the roster (which is the FO's fault not Dusty's.) That said once he gets called up and Dusty plays Patterson instead of him then we can blame Dusty like crazy.

Alex in SF, Monday, 26 May 2008 15:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Point.

Although with Jocketty as GM, Bruce's ETA has to be about 2014 or so.

regressing and his Dad is stirring up drama on the internets. :`(

"I hope Colby does not end up like Reyes in that Duncan wanted to turn Anthony into something he wasn’t(a sinkerball pitcher) and has damn near ruined him, now the advice of working on slapping the ball the other way from and unnamed person on the staff has Colby looking like he doesn’t have a clue."

three weeks pass...

Longoria looking sparkly with 11 home runs.

felicity, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 02:17 (fifteen years ago) link

He'd look a little more sparkly if he'd make contact a little more. Still making Adam Jones look like a crap pick (that guy doesn't make much more contact and he doesn't hit home runs!)
