No other team has played there more than three times. And yet, Atlanta is the only one of the seven that has failed to win more than one game at Turner Field since Opening Day.

The Braves will take the field this evening just 1-15 on their home turf, the worst friendly-confines record in baseball by several country miles. They’ve batted .235/.304/.285 at Turner Field this season. Former Brave Michael Bourn batted .238/.310/.282 last season and has been released twice since Opening Day, including from a minor-league deal with the Jays over the weekend.

my strategy for this season is to follow the Braves only by reading this thread, so far it's working pretty well

really seems like the most futile manager firing ever. the team's not doing any worse than expected.

9-28 overall and 2-17 at home, 11 homers, .594 OPS, is mmmmmaybe a little worse

ok but is fredi to blame? is firing him gonna change anything? it's already a dumb thing teams do, just usually the teams that do it have SOME talent beyond AAAA? no one's looking at that team and thinking, "yeah, fredi gonzalez is really holding them back"

He's probably not to blame, but I don't think he's the right guy to manage the nu-look team whenever it emerges from its cocoon. This was Coppy and Hart throwing an armload of bats in the shower and calling the players a bunch of lollygaggers.

fredi doesn't seem like a great manager, but of course he's not to blame. i guess you can only let morale collapse so far before doing something?

you only get to pull that trigger once, tho, and while they should be better than this, they're still not going to be good. how long are they gonna let the interim manager (who's been with the organization since 1977!) hang? what actually better managers are available?

i'm not sure they're so close to a rebound that an established manager would want to be associated with the ongoing pain

I think there's something to having a leader, or at least public face, of the pitching staff the way Freddie is the leader of the offense. He's inexpensive, talented, young and I've never heard say a nervous word about his mechanics or health. I'd keep him.

unless they're legitimately planning on contending next year, which they probably shouldn't be, i don't think that's important

teheran is never going to have as much value as he has right now in this market. the pieces he brings in could make this team's youth movement in the coming years very cubs-like.

it shouldn't take the braves five years to contend. i mean yeah if dave stewart wants to give them aj pollock and all his future first-round picks for teheran then do it, but i don't see why they need to shop him now

They are so much better than they were in April. I think they're having a 2012 Royals/2014 Astros season this year. I don't know about playoffs, but .500 is not hard to envision next year.

I know Snitker has to be the frontrunner after this 2nd half, but I'm kind of rooting for Pendleton. I'd like to see the Barves start off in White Flight Stadium with a black manager. (I don't know anything about Porter.)
