It'd take jpg zings to the next level - a level of movement.

Just c&p the code under "embed video" into the comment field. Simple as that.

yes, jon has it and that bit works. Want to sort it so they get hidden along with images too, though. It's on the todo pile.

You guys made fun of my frameworks but look how easy RSS is in my fw of choice:
http://trac.symfony-project.com/wiki/sfFeed2Plugin
Using the object converter
As the method names that are used to build a feed item based on an object are more or less always the same, the sfFeedPeer can try to do it on its own:
public function executeLastPosts() { $feed = new sfAtom1Feed();
$feed->initialize(array( 'title' => 'The mouse blog', 'link' => 'http://www.myblog.com/', 'authorEmail' => 'pcl✧✧✧@myb✧✧✧.c✧✧', 'authorName' => 'Peter Clive' ));
$c = new Criteria; $c->addDescendingOrderByColumn(PostPeer::CREATED_AT); $c->setLimit(5); $posts = PostPeer::doSelect($c);
$postItems = sfFeedPeer::convertObjectsToItems($posts, array('routeName' => '@permalink')) $feed->addItems($postItems);
$this->feed = $feed; }

ASPIES
I can't see embedded youtube videos when browsing ilx in Firefox, get a gray field and error message "A plugin is needed to display this content."
According to this thread FF won't load ilx-type embeds but that can't be the case can it? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1035774
Anyway, if anyone has an idea for a solution I'd be happy.

Firefox plays embedded Youtubes for me. check your add-ons? also check whether you're blocking Flash maybe cos FF has started defaulting to that

I mentioned having a somewhat similar problem on another thread a few months ago. I'm running the Flashblock add-on on Firefox and can't see the YouTube embeds on this site. The posts just appear blank (with the exception of any text that was included in the posts). The odd thing is the YouTube embedded console does display on other sites. (But in place of a still from the video there's a button with an arrow on it that I have to press to enable the video. I then have to press the actual play button to begin playing the clip.) I guess the problem I'm having must be something to do with different methods of embedding the console (as mentioned in the Mozilla support thread link above).
"A plugin is needed to display this content."
I got that message last night. It happened after I tried to update the Flash plug-in (Firefox said it was vulnerable). Because I had opened (and left open) the Flash user panel on my computer in order to check the version number of Flash, the update installation failed ('installation failed: program is in use'). You would think it would just revert to the previous installation, but when I checked Firefox add-ons (after getting the error message mentioned above), there was no Flash listed among the plug-ins (hence 'a plug in is needed...'). I solved it by updating Flash again and checking that it was installed successfully.

updated flash, now it works - sorry for wasting your time, but thanks for the very useful input!

I've updated Flash probably three times in the past two weeks! youtube embeds display normally immediately after the installation, but after a few days Firefox tells me the Flash plug-in is outdated and vulnerable, so I repeat the process and restart Firefox and everything is well and good (for a few more days). I don't understand it.

It's all Firefox, and it's entirely intentional. They're trying to hasten the demise of Flash and they're inconveniencing their users in the process. I understand their reasons but their methods are obnoxious.

xpost - yeah, I just googled 'firefox + flash' and got a bunch of articles/blog entries to that effect. I understand their concerns about security & in a way I admire their self-abnegation (I'm sure they've already lost a lot of users to Chrome), but I'd prefer to tough out the malware risks until a fix comes along. convenience > security

Someone has probably asked about this already, but is it possible for someone to update the YouTube parsing code to be able to parse https links and youtu.be links?
