i: this is a somewhat spammy announcement that Sav is doing the cover and illustrations for the book I'm currently kickstartering (offer closes TODAY, reward levels inc.some v.collectable stuff): https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/253164519/a-hidden-landscape-once-a-week-an-anthology
ii: but also an opportunity to celebrate/discuss his work, from "Rock'n'Roll Zoo" at Sounds in the 70s through to "Trip or Squeek" at The Wire, via NME and Forced Exposure, plus record sleeves for Sonic Youth etc

He used to run a record shop behind the Virgin megastore in london a few years ago too. Plus compiled psychedelic and biker rock albums.

I had an issue of a magazine he started in the 90s too I think .

I believe he still works in a record shop now and then -- because I took a flyer for this project into it and attempted to sweet-talk the nice man behind the counter into displaying. He said "Well, we do have a no-flyer policy usually but as Edwin works hereā€¦"

Was there ever a Rock n Roll Zoo collection? Such a funny and strange vision of comics (the only thing I can think of that shares some of the same vibe is Achewood).

i believe he's doing a grand back-pages project for strange attractor, which will doubtless include some of it -- i don't think there was anything before the Trip or Squeek collection (which is a blood relation to RnRZ)

Wonder if that record shop is still there. Not sure what is around there. I think the Virgin Megastore is still there as something else but everything on the Charing Cross Road side of that part of Oxford St is gone. I thought things on that bottom section of the other side of the road had been in question as to how long it would be up. But not been in that street behind it in years.
