Symbolism of the Heartbeat in "U or D" and "A Last Time"

I just watched "Utopia or Deuteranopia" and "A Last Time for Everything" back to back, and I noticed that the heartbeat sound playing in the background when Aeon infiltrates the love nest Trevor built for her (in the former), and the heartbeat heard when Trevor and Aeon finally hook up (in the latter) are one and the same. To me this represents that, although his hopes were dashed earlier, Trevor eventually gets his wish, and achieves Aeon (however briefly). Note that in the latter episode, Aeon is wearing a dress similar in design to the one Trevor had made for her for the love nest.

Thinking more about it, there's also a similar exchange of conversation:

in "U or D": Aeon points a gun at Trevor. "You think you know what I'm doing, so obviously, you don't."

in "Last Time": Trevor: "You don't know what I want." Aeon: "That makes two of us." Points the gun at Trevor.

Of course there is the constant theme of Trevor not realizing just where Aeon's true intentions lie (often, with him), but to me this seems almost directly referrential.

And then Aeon adds, "It's good not to be scared, isn't it?" Does she mean that Trevor is usually scared of Aeon's uncertain intentions, or is she referring to the frightening exchange earlier between the two, when she seemed to give in so easily? I like the fact that she's pointing a gun at him while she says this; their relationship is such that the norm for them involves casually pointing guns at one another.

I'll bet people went over all this in the old forum ten years ago, but I've forgotten it all, and as I watch the episodes again I find I'm rediscovering them.

Lol. Yeah somehow that gun pointing thing represents their mistrust of each other and creates the 'edge' to their relationship.

Somehow, the audience suspects these guys can trust each other and just have to find it out, but then again, we're not postitive either.
