we went on an outing to flushing on saturday. there are still a few things in my ladyfriends freezer im not sure about or what to consider doing with them. i have a jar of mayom in brine im still pretty clueless about...there is an amazing beauty to all of it...but there will be some weird, weird dinners in the next few months

oh man. 6 years ago a chinese coworker had a daughter. told no one. 30 days later, as is custom, he announced the birth. all the women in the office thought that was weird. i got invited to a nine course meal in flushing.

lots of veggies and noodles and fish, no general tsos fried crap. mid-meal came the presentation of the (rather hefty) shark fin. this thing must have cost several hundred dollars. the soup tasted like bland seafood consommé with cartilage jizz in it. but you got a nice five minute ecstasy buzz after finishing. mental.

I got a Chinese coworker and she apparently doesn't eat fucked things. She does make a point of using australian expressions which is hilarious.

March 24, 2008 | On my first trip to China I met a dog who was a dead ringer for Lassie. He lived with a dozen other dogs at a remote training camp for Olympic skiers in Manchuria, where a friend and I were spending a few days as we explored the area's backcountry skiing. In return for food and lodging we gave the Chinese athletes some clinics in American ski techniques.

The dog quickly became my friend. He would twirl happily in my arms before I headed up the slopes each morning and would be waiting for me when I returned. Dropping to my knees, I'd play tag with him, and he'd wag his tail so hard that his entire body would shimmy. The Chinese skiers paid no attention to the dogs.

On the day before we departed, at lunch, our translator stood and called the mess hall to silence. "To thank our American friends for showing us so much about skiing," he announced, "our chef will prepare a special dish tonight." He nodded to the head coach, who waved his hand toward the door. Two of the Chinese skiers, standing at the ready, opened it with a flourish, and the white-aproned chef stepped inside, holding aloft my friend, the collie, by his tail. He had been gutted from throat to groin.

Stunned, I couldn't say a word, but that evening when a large platter of dog meat was put in the center of our table, I regained my voice. My ski partner, a better cultural ambassador than I, gingerly took a few bits of the dish with her chopsticks. I declined. "Please thank the head coach," I told our translator, "but I can't. I have too many friends at home who are dogs."

I shall never forget the man's face. His mouth fell open and his eyes darted nervously from side to side. "Please translate what I said," I asked him, "just as I said it." When he did, the faces of the coaching staff took on the same astonished look. They stared at me in disbelief and something else -- pity.

I crave for dog meats. Is there an asian restaurant here in US selling dogmeat?

Let me tell how they get a dog meat, firstly they rear in the farm and in the farm you don't hear them barking because they were deafened by poking a chop stick into their ears. They were bleed for days and some die. Those dead were quickly sold off to poor people.
Secondly since dog meat are sought after, some catch them illegally by poisoning them and bring the carcass to the restaurant. The restaurant owner does not know that they were poisoned and he sells to the customers. After all the restaurant owners knew why their meat comes cheaper than the ones raised in farms. Civet cats are highly consumed in Asia and these cats have links to SARS, recently some restaurants were selling those cats were shut down or fined heavily. Most likely dogs will have some kind of disease will spread to human beings and I totally understand that the Chinese, Koreans and Philipinas are love to eat dogs but please spare a thought how it was kill before ending up on the plate.

China warned the two American presidential candidates on Thursday against supporting the independence of Taiwan, saying such moves will strain China-US relations.

The warning came after China learnt Barack Obama and John McCain supported a proposed US$6.5 billion (HK$50.7 billion) arms package to Taiwan.

''The Taiwan issue is the core issue in China-US relations,'' foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang told journalists.

''Thirty years of bilateral ties have shown that when the Taiwan issue is properly handled, the basis of the relationship is further developed. If not, the ties face twist and turns.''
