Isn't that a Black Sabbath song?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 22 January 2005 00:23 (nineteen years ago) link

oh yes, from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. I probably listen to that one least, honestly.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Saturday, 22 January 2005 00:25 (nineteen years ago) link

It's good! Better than Sabotage!

Ian John50n (orion), Saturday, 22 January 2005 00:30 (nineteen years ago) link

i hardly ever listen to SBS either. i remember there being some wierd synth on there? no? i'm not sure i even have Sabotage.

stormy, did you mail me FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND years ago? or did we email about it?

Hella Fitzgerald (JasonD), Saturday, 22 January 2005 00:43 (nineteen years ago) link

on the OC last night, there was some modern rock band who's singer sounded a lot like Ozzy and i wanted to know who it was but i'm lazy*

*my excuse for everything

after a little research, it is one of the following:

• "Hardcore Days & Softcore Nights" by Aqueduct - Buy Now! - Review
• "Play" by Flunk - Buy Now! - Review
• "Saturday Night" by The Thrills - Buy Now! - Review
• "Girls Can Be Cruel" by Infusion - Buy Now! - Review
• "Cali4nia" by Jazzelicious - Buy Now! - Review
• "Not For All The Love In The World" by The Thrills - Buy Now! - Review
• "Honey Dew" by Tom Quick - Buy Now! - Review
• "The Curse of Comfort" by The Thrills - Buy Now! - Review
• "Strange Religion" by Mark Lanegan Band - Buy Now! - Review

i belive it may be Aqueduct because it was in the beginning of the show and the rest of the bands seem like electronica bands or crap

Hella Fitzgerald (JasonD), Saturday, 22 January 2005 01:12 (nineteen years ago) link

well, i can guarantee it wasn't the Thrills, so that eliminates what, 3 of the options. And it couldn't have been Lanegan -- his voice is way too deep to approximate the Ozzster at this point (altho he might have been able to do it circa Clairvoyance; funny how his voice has changed over the years.) Dude from Helmet always did the best latter-day OZZ, I always thought.

Hey JaXoN, yeah we did communicate about that FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND thing! Thing is, if you'll recall, I dragged my feet, and when I finally got around to writing you back about it, you told me you had already picked up a copy at Aquarius or something. :(

I always felt bad about that. Like, I mean, you didn't have to do that. I should have been more prompt. My New Year's Resolution is to be all about the promptness. So, like, is there anything I can send you man? Anything you're looking for? I can send you more heavy thud-rock. maybe Blues Creation or Randy Holden or May Blitz or Stackwaddy or something. whatever, just let me know!!

hey dude, no worries. i never actually bought it. i had another friend that burned it for me.

Hella Fitzgerald (JasonD), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:18 (nineteen years ago) link

oh, and i downloaded the Aqueduct song (that's it) and it sounds like a typical indie rock lo-fi song, but the way he sings sound a bit like ozzy. it's kinda funny.

Hella Fitzgerald (JasonD), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:20 (nineteen years ago) link

SBS is probably my favorite black Sab song.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 23 January 2005 00:56 (nineteen years ago) link

i listened to SBS today and it's way better than i remember. the title song is pretty fucking killer, and that synth stuff didn't bother me at all. it has a couple of recycled riffs, but whatever.

and check this out! too bad from the clips it sounds more like indian classical music than modern electronic indian music.
