i'm finding this idea grosser than i initially thought i wd and i'm not sure whether it's the idea of consuming bits of myself or the idea of consuming human blood that's off-putting because i do love pigs' blood no question

Making such a sausage would be utterly pointless and foolish. But once it was made I can't see any valid reason not to eat it myself. After all, people will suck the blood from a cut on their own finger and not think twice about it.

aimless raises a maybe crucial point: would it make a difference to voters if a no vote meant such a sausage would be eaten by someone else? would it matter who?

Yes, as a vegetarian it would make a nice alternative to soya.

Nutritionally speaking, it would be a net loss, because cooking the sausage would destroy some nutrients.

It looks like you would have to cook at a very high temperature to eradicate any blood diseases.

But if it is your own blood, surely it is safe to re-infect yourself with your very own native blood diseases, as opposed to nasty foreign ones.

I've now devised a really good performance art piece based on this idea that touches on scottish national identity and biopolitics. just need to fart out an artist's statement. here's the idea:

Name of piece: Man is the pie that bakes and eats himself

I take the stage, on which there is a doctor's office bed (which i lay on) and small worktop with a hot-plate, a chopping board, some cutlery, a plate etc., and the ingredients to black pudding that are not blood and fat - oatmeal, onion etc.

Medical professionals come in with their various apparatuses and proceed to give me liposuction and to collect some of my blood.

I then use some of the fat and blood to make black pudding

then i eat it.

I've only had black pudding a couple of times but I feel like I perhaps haven't had good black pudding, it was at a greasy spoon caff in Walthamstow, and it was... OK? but not really much to write home about. tasted kind of rusky.

most black pudding I've had is really nothing special, there's this scottish mini black pudding you can get in sainsbury's which is pretty good though.
