I fucking hate hate hate flying in this game. Done the Trevor airstrip thing a bunch of times, crashed on landing each time, no idea how the fuck I'm supposed to slow the plane down. F u game

flying is best in first person view. but the sound for when your gear goes up and down is pretty quiet so you might have flip back and forth to check.

Finally gathered all letter scraps and ufo. Both anticlimactic as was expected. Pay-offs are crap really.

Epsilon done. Now just tracts to gather. I am sticking with it but not going to try for 100%. Don't really enjoy replaying mains oddly enough and I really thought as I was playing them first time around I would because I could relax but I'm a way I just found myself wondering why bother...

I think the game is amazing and enjoyed a slight return to CJ but the Michael and Franklin characters weren't that finished. I liked the fact that Franklin was engaged with his decisions and got the fun.

This is probably the first game I would buy DLC if it's released as large areas of the map feel unused.

I would also buy PPlains book "L'EtranGTAr".

ah so you slow the plane down with the car brake, that would have been a cool thing for the game to tell me, kept fucking around with the rudder controls which were the only thing i saw them mention like an idiot

my landing gear kept going up and down like it couldn't fuckin make up its mind. flying is definitely kinda hard. i love the shit out of trevor's drug running missions (including the ones with the dune buggy) because you're made to redo them until you're totally on point. most of the rest of the game you don't have to actually be that good at.

RT throttles the plane up too, if that wasn't obvious.

i don't remember when the flight school opens in relation to the trevor airstrip missions, but going thru those maxes out flight skill for each character. tedious but useful (like going thru each shooting range challenge with each character) (yes i did this)

i don't have a ton of data to support this but flying seems like a p easy way to earn RP and cash in the online game? i was pretty frustrated with the mechanics at first but once i learned to just take things niiiiiiiice and easy (instead of with the pell mell style favored on the road), i found it p simple to take first in most of the (like, five) air races I've since entered. most ppl seem to crash out because they're trying to fly like they're driving a motorbike, so just ~not crashing~ is often enough to stake out a sizable and domineering lead

i have no idea how feasible it would be, but making yourself into flying specialist (a pilot, even!) in the online game could be lucrative?

gbx you are dead right. i have lost almost every road race i've taken part in. i've won almost every plane race, and its not even been close.

Curious, to those who are claiming 100% and/or finding all the hidden packages, did you cheat or was it all pure exploration?

I'm not cheating and still have quite a lot to find, good going if you have found this stuff without looking it up.

I finally got the last spaceship part last night, used a guide to find them. It would take years to stumble across some of them by chance.

Plus it was a good way to spend the 10 days Michael has to wear the Epsilon robes for.

I bought the Brady Games guide and had it to hand after finishing the missions. Agree with Goole: Life is short and very full of other non-GTA things. Have to maximise bang for X-Buck!

Fair enough, just wanted to know. I agree though for the newer GTA games, I never found all the pigeons in IV nor all the seagulls in Gay Tony. The earlier games weren't as big and it felt a lot easier to find stuff in those ones. Vice City was perfect size for hunting hidden packages.

V is vast, and yeah I'll probably never find them all before I get bored of the game.

- sniped a guy from the tallest building as he was on his way to Simeon's. like, on the bridge right by the gun shop that's closest to Simeon's place on the docks. while he was driving. I am irrationally proud of this

I was in first place in a race but then goole killed me, setting me off on a cascade of other people killing me, and then I finished in like 10th place.

I just don't get anything like that from the online play, all I get is jerky gameplay and people driving around trying to kill me. It lasts about ten minutes then i'm back to single player mode.

I've found the free mode to be a bit nasty, yeah. But online missions and races, etc - so much fun. Even though I suck at them, so much fun.

I stole a dude's tank last night! It was my first time driving one extensively. Man chased me all the way up the west coast highway in passive mode trying to get it back. Killed him anyway by blowing up the car he was driving.

Other players sped by me and I didn't even take a shot. Had too much fun blowing police helicopters out of the sky like it was Duck Hunt. I still hate tanks in MP, but that almost made up for the 727 times I've been spawn killed.

I eventually drove it into the ocean and accepted a Rooftop Rumble invitation to get out of there.

I actually whacked a guy with a high bounty on his head the other evening - like I say, I suck at videogames so this was a rare and thoroughly satisfying moment. He was clearly bummed about it though, and proceeded to chase me down in a helicopter. He almost caught me too, only I crashed into another car on the road, which enabled me to watch him smash the chopper into a nearby building.

He later placed a bounty on my head, and I almost immediately let someone else kill me, and afterwards texted my murderer that I hope he enjoyed the cash. It's important, I think, to not take any of this too seriously and maintain a sense of gamesmanship.

Hell, I wish they could do noncontact racing in one-man races, like how Grand Turismo used to show your Lap 1 car going up against your Lap 2 car.
