I just got a saturn on Ebay, what games should i be looking for?

So far i am thinking Guardian Heroes, Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga ( but it's £99 wtf), Street Fighter Alpha 2, Sega Rally and Dragon Force.

Everything you've listed is pure gaming heaven.

I would also keep an eye out for Shining Force III, Burning Rangers, Puzzle Fighter Alpha 2, the Bomberman game and Darkstalkers 2: Night Warriors.

I'm trying to remember if any of the Castlevanias are worth playing. I know they led up to SOTN, but aren't quite as good...

I definetely want shining force, maybe shining the holy ark too, and darkstalkers, maybe some more capcom 2-d fighters as well but i have puzzle fighter for the ps1 lying around somewhere. I might get Baku Baku animal for puzzleage tho.

Was Fighters Megamix any good or am i best opting for VF2?

I had VF2, Fighting Vipers AND Fighters Megamix. VF2 was probably the "purest" fighting experience but I had WAY more fun playing Fighters Megamix. Fighting Vipers was kind of worthless yet somehow really, really fun (the whole "busting armor off of people" thing was way more entertaining than it should have been).

I love how the saturn has been somehow reappropriated as The Great Lost Indie Console! I will maybe rebuy one.

I wish i didn't have a phobia of opening consoles up.

This is because it was GREAT.

saturn was a cool system, just incompetently marketed.

Jeffrey, you don't need a mod chip for the Saturn, AFAIK you can get something that fits in the cartridge slot to play imports. I'm not sure if it gets around the 50/60hz thing, but I'm sure it does. Even then, I don't think you need a mod chip, it's just a matter of wiring a couple of jumpers together inside like with the Mega Drive and Snes.

Okay wiring jumpers together is still very scary but less so than an entire modification. Maybe i can persuade someone more electronically inclined to do it for me though. The cartridge thing is much more exciting and i would be looking into ebaying one right now if it was actually working for me.

I finally got this last night, so far i i have:

guardian heroes
virtua fighter 2
mystaria
sim city 2000
mass destruction
Space Hulk

and i have nights, virtual hydlide, shining wisdom and street fighter alpha 2 on their way through the post.

Guardian heroes is even better than i remembered but my friend is pretty bad at it and as there's only one save slot i've not been able to play it through on my own. The versus mode is incredibly good and the most hectic fighting game i've played bar powerstone. It makes advance guardian heroes pretty dull in comparison.

I'm still tempted to persuade/pay someone to mod it for me because dragon force, shining force 3 and panzer dragoon saga all go fr around £50-100 on ebay, i can't afford to pay that but they're pretty easy to d/l from p2p so modding may be the way to go.

three years pass...

in these uncertain economic times i'm reassured by the fact that even if my savings evaporate i can always ebay my saturn games for enough money to live on.

just started up another Magic Knight Rayearth game because wtf i wasnt getting anywhere with fallout anyway. tempted to start another poll that no one will vote in for best saturn game but i'll just post about it here instead.

lol this intro is something. i didn't really remember this game being quite so ridiculous but goddam this is pretty awesome. also lol at "late for my fencing lesson" way to set up an entirely plausible reason why 14 y.o. girls are the deadliest fighters in a world stuffed with dragons and professional soldiers and wizards dressed in twelve yards of white muslin.

oh hi dere so it looks like we've been transported to some narnia from tokyo what up want to crew together? okay!! that creepy dude wants us to look for magic gems that sounds like a pretty good idea lets do magic <3 this game.
