Confirmed for Xbox 360 Live Arcade. Someone told me 2008 but I haven't seen confirmation on any dates yet.

I miss this. Maybe tissp wants to sell my old copy back to me. Or maybe I'll have to buy a 360.

There's a bunch of new footage up of the HD version... http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/16808
Looks and sounds good, very much like the originals Same level on ps2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jScUsvQZkTY&feature=related Dreamcast, I think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip7wpGkAQgE&feature=related

Much like that VC release of Sin and Punishment, I almost want to get a 360 just so I can support this when it comes out.
― Nhex, Friday, 21 December 2007 22:41 (sixteen years ago) link
This had better come out in January dammit!
― Jeff LeVine, Monday, 31 December 2007 08:00 (sixteen years ago) link
The one thing I don't quite get about this game is something kind of important... what makes you die? Is it missing a certain number of ships or do certain kinds of ships hit you? Or what? I've played about ten games and cleared a few levels (well the first two in regular mode and the first one a couple times in score attack), but I still haven't really figured out what makes me fail the times I have.
A really cool feature on the 360 version is being able to download the replays from everybody on the leaderboard. Just watching a couple minutes of the person with the high scores game helped my scoring immensely. Also the replay took maybe two seconds to download!
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 17:49 (sixteen years ago) link
certain ships hit you. some fire missles. junk like that.
― Creeztophair, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 18:35 (sixteen years ago) link
also, this has become easier to find used at gamestops. i bought mine a few months ago for $35 used. i'm not sure if i'm gonna purchase the xbla version. although, that replay thing sounds pretty neat.
― Creeztophair, Wednesday, 30 January 2008 18:39 (sixteen years ago) link
I love the way this game looks and feels but I have no idea what the hell is going on in it pretty much ever.
― antexit, Sunday, 3 February 2008 15:18 (sixteen years ago) link
my reaction is %10000 identical, especially when I hit the bosses, but I keep playing and enjoying it anyway.
― jamescobo, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 17:11 (sixteen years ago) link
Did they wind up including that feature where you can turn on all your controllers and put them up your butt or whatever? If so, I can't figure out how to turn it on.
― antexit, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 18:53 (sixteen years ago) link
it definitely still exists, but i only have one controller so i unno how to do it (although i think one is supposed to go on each foot and another somewhere on your torso)
― Will M., Tuesday, 5 February 2008 18:57 (sixteen years ago) link
i just heard how to do it, you need to go into the paus menu once you've actually started playing and set vibration to "on"
― Will M., Tuesday, 5 February 2008 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link
And the other controllers just have to be on, not logged in or anything?
― antexit, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 20:17 (sixteen years ago) link
He asks strictly for academic purposes.
― HI DERE, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 20:26 (sixteen years ago) link
that's the only hint i heard... i assume you can just turn them on, they shouldn't need to be logged into any user. in fact that'd probably only make it not work... anyway, a bit more research says that you put ONE under your feet, and one on your back/neck, and one in your hands. That's "The Miz Way" to play.
― Will M., Tuesday, 5 February 2008 21:08 (sixteen years ago) link
I have tried the Miz Way. I found that trying to rest a 360 controller against the small of my back / on my neck kinda awkward as it is plastic and pointy, and the constant shuffling outweighed the alleged sythesthesia of the whole experience. THey just have to be on, go into the menu, select "Trance Vibration" and set the controllers you're not using to play to "trance mode"
― Matt D, Tuesday, 5 February 2008 21:19 (sixteen years ago) link
and then put them all up your butt.
― s1ocki, Wednesday, 6 February 2008 05:41 (sixteen years ago) link
ESPECIALLY the one you're using to control the game!
― Will M., Wednesday, 6 February 2008 19:02 (sixteen years ago) link
This game is a lot more challenging than I thought it was going to be. I haven't put a ton of time in, but so far I've yet to unlock level 4. I did finally get to the level 3 boss tonight, but damn - it's a long battle especially when you don't know what to do and there's shit flying every which way. One try exhausts me too much to immediately try again and again. It seems like the game gets harder (throws more stuff at you) as you level up your guy too? It's frustrating because I've heard that the game really soars when you reach level 5 anf right now I don't feel like I'll ever be able to get there...
― Jeff LeVine, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 05:59 (sixteen years ago) link
If you're trying to get everything on an 8-chain, stop doing that-- you'll go mental. staccato claps is the way to take shit out when it gets hairy, and NEVER stop moving your cursor. That stuff allowed me to beat the game (albeit not yet on direct assault which is truly BRUTAL). i don't think it throws more at you as you get stronger, so much as it throws more at you when you get further.
also, the level 3 boss is a great place to use your overdrives (particularly in his second phase where he is sending thousands of little robofish at you). but then again, half the magic of the game is figung this stuff out for yourself.
and yeah, level 5 fuckin' RULES.
― Will M., Wednesday, 20 February 2008 18:30 (sixteen years ago) link
Finally put in the time to make it to the level 5 boss, though I didn't quite finish the game (either ran out of time or got shot down, I'm not sure), though I think if only I had thirty more seconds I would have been done. That last level is especially exhausting - I need a recharge before trying again.
I must say though, I really love the level four boss the most - giant running man.
Awesome game. I'm looking forward to trying some of the unlock stuff (and unlocking more stuff) - and improving on some time attack scores.

I can't remember how much I charged tissp for my old copy, back at the top of the thread.

― Jeff LeVine, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 19:57 (fifteen years ago) link
on amazon it's going for silly prices still from some market place sellers
― Ste, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:38 (fifteen years ago) link
got this today, was slightly miffed at the battered packaging but hey ho the game still works.
So this is Panzer Dragoon with clever graphics/music interaction. Fun for a short while I guess, can't believe i paid twenty quid for it.

― JimD, Friday, 15 August 2008 12:38 (fifteen years ago) link
haha, i think i'm getting one as well !
― Ste, Friday, 15 August 2008 15:42 (fifteen years ago) link
The leaderboards and stuff help make it more addicting (I know I played a lot of score attack trying to top my brother). Also each level is better than the the one before (sort of), but the last level is something way better than everything that came before. Make sure to play through to the final level!

Vib Ribbon is so much better. Why never in USA, Vib Ribbon? I love you so. :(

Holy shit. Between this and Fahrenheit it's like I've now finally played the two games I've always wanted to play without even realizing they existed before. One, all sensation. The other, all angst. Both - fairly easy for the most part! Perfect!

What is the best/cheapest/easiest way to play this game rn? I currently have no consoles (but could borrow something or buy one for cheap, possibly). Is Child of Eden a perfect substitute?

Actually I have a Dreamcast sitting in a box somewhere and I know that it's p easy to burn games for it! I wonder if the Japanese release has enough english text in it?
― laraaji p. henson (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 22 September 2016 15:19 (seven years ago) link
i didn't like child of eden very much for reasons i don't quite recall right now - the mechanics are pretty much identical (as long as you're not playing the lolkinect version) but i dunno it just didn't gel the way rez did
i really want to play rez infinite on the psvr!

I really like Child of Eden but I can't play it very much or for very long (I have the lolPS Move version) because it's seriously physically exhausting. I break a sweat like I'm playing Just Dance or something.

i started playing videogames to avoid physical activity ffs, the last thing i need is the cold implacable eye of a kinect judging me for bumbling my way through disney fantasia: music evolved

and the sneaking suspicion that, somewhere in redmond, microsft employees are watching and laughing at me
playstation vr is going to suck without the more powerful PS4 right?
― dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Thursday, 22 September 2016 15:57 (seven years ago) link
i think it's got some additional processing power built-in to help it render at the framerates required to stop you barfing all over your couch every time you put it on
i preordered one for some reason but really the only thing i wanna play on it is rez and i dunno if i can justify like a £750 total investment in a rez vr machine
― the devastation is very important to me (bizarro gazzara), Thursday, 22 September 2016 16:05 (seven years ago) link
t/s: a city break in barcelona vs a psvr, a copy of rez and a big bag of weed
