Asked what his goal is for this season, Bynum said, “Just to be able to play without pain and discover the joy again.”

Unlike home runs or strikeouts, almost every basket, made or missed, in the NBA is the product of teamwork — coordinated and connected actions by multiple actors behaving (or in some cases, attempting to behave) as a unit. As a result, every basketball analysis that fails to account for the natural ecology of the game is inherently flawed — and to this point, almost all “advanced” analyses make no such ecological considerations.

I thought Doc was spozed to be a defensive coach? Or was that just all cos he had Garnett?

Thibs was the defense guy

乒乓, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:12 (ten years ago) link

doc's more of a glue guy/figurehead i always felt. players love him and will die for him.

Clay, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:13 (ten years ago) link

otm everyone whos ever met doc loves him he is apparently an extremely decent and charming human

lag∞n, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:15 (ten years ago) link

every garnett season in boston he had a coach who totally ran the D to the extent that doc sat down and thibs or whoever stood up when the other team had the ball

lag∞n, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:17 (ten years ago) link

hm did not know

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 8 November 2013 03:17 (ten years ago) link

when houston trades asik they really need to get a perimeter stopper or two

lag∞n, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:19 (ten years ago) link

or maybe harden can at least try idk might work too

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 8 November 2013 03:19 (ten years ago) link

Doc also was pretty good at drawing up offensive plays in a time out. Of course, they usually devolved into Paul Pierce from the elbow but sometimes they got Paul a mismatch or some space to take a fallaway jumper.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:21 (ten years ago) link

do you think harden is playing defense just as a goof

lag∞n, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:22 (ten years ago) link

you'd think his teammates might start gettin pissed at him eventually

Clay, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:23 (ten years ago) link

None of them play D either so why worry?

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:23 (ten years ago) link

Bigs don't count.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:24 (ten years ago) link

Lin at least looks like he's trying and/or cares

Clay, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:25 (ten years ago) link

hes better at pretending, he went too harvard

lag∞n, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:26 (ten years ago) link

Isn't Beverley supposed to be good at D?

Me & Mahomies (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Friday, 8 November 2013 03:28 (ten years ago) link

Yeah but his name is Beverly

乒乓, Friday, 8 November 2013 03:33 (ten years ago) link
