if he can defend and shoot at dray green levels then he will be good i agree lol

― lag∞n, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 12:41 PM (27 seconds ago) Bookmark

i'm not saying he would be as good as draymond just that he could contribute in the same way that draymond does. having a big who can move and pass like that is pretty helpful.

i guess the worst case scenario is that he's essentially ricky rubio on the offensive end but can guard wings and bigs in small ball lineups which would be a disappointment but still a useful player!

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:46 (eight years ago) link

he's gonna be a playmaker so even if his shot never develops you're at least getting a player better than michael kidd gilcrhrist or whoever. like at absolute worst he's josh mcroberts or something, which again would kinda suck for a #1 overall pick but at least could really help you in certain situations.

but still ingram looks like he could be a perennial 25 ppg scorer so you know

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:48 (eight years ago) link

last time ainge had a decent pick to work with he turned a fifth pick and some garbage into Ray Allen (and big baby ha)

last time ainge had a decent pick he took marcus smart!

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:49 (eight years ago) link

is marcus smart good y/n? no one can answer that question still it seems

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:50 (eight years ago) link

simmons prob has the tools to be an elite defender its just kinda difficult to project when everyones questioning his desire to do so

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:50 (eight years ago) link

yeah. idk ultimately he's 19 i'd still assume he's going to care enough at some point in the next like 5 years.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:51 (eight years ago) link

some guys do some guys dont, its his shooting that really gives me pause tho, like hes afraid to even shoot, he takes most of his shots around the basket with his off hand, i dont think u can come from that level to be even a decent shooter, thats pathological

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link

marcus smart was miserable on offense this season but he's an elite defender and showed some signs of life on offense in the playoffs

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:56 (eight years ago) link

it's weird but let's see what happens when he has real nba coaches working with him and not LSU or "australia" xp

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 18 May 2016 16:57 (eight years ago) link

he came up in the american system fwiw been living here for like 5 years

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:05 (eight years ago) link

not that the aau is the best teaching environment or anything

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:05 (eight years ago) link

67% ft i guess cld be worse, some stats guys think that numbers a better predictor of future shooting ability than anything, which is kinda worrying for ingram cause he shot 68%

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:08 (eight years ago) link

ingram i wonder abt if hes one of those guys who looks like the perfect nba player but doesnt quite have the touch to ever be dominant, like he ends up shooting 35% from three instead of 40 and he never quite gets to the rim like u think he shd, hell prob be super solid at the very least and cld easily end up a superstar

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:10 (eight years ago) link

if i were simmons i'd be hiring whoever is best this summer to tear down/rebuild my shot and not worrying about whether my shoe deal is for like $7m or $10m but who knows maybe he has time for both.

w/ingram i'm curious how his body will fill out, he's like spindly rn and it's a little scary.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link

he has big shoulders wld think hell prob be more robust than durant at least

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:22 (eight years ago) link

And durant has been fine! The league is pretty kind to spindly dudes nowadays as long as you don't have a bad ankle or knee. Not too many bruisers around especially outside the center spot- probably the most punishing thing he'd face if he goes east is guarding Lebron four times a year

Oh yeah whoops

Tbf the sixth pick is definitely less valuable and that was a draft that was kinda (shrug emoji) outside the top three so it must have been less valuable as a trade chip

gis for westbrook shark jump (agent hibachi), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:52 (eight years ago) link

its crazy to look at nba players legs they are almost all extremely thin, this is just what good jumping legs look like i guess

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 17:53 (eight years ago) link

yeah it's prob better long term to not have a couple tanks under your hips if you're gonna be running and jumping constantly for a dozen years

Clay, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:05 (eight years ago) link

lebro is the exception

someone should let jared sullinger know.

I just GIS'ed "nba players legs" and saw someone with his shin bone sticking out. TTTT_TTTT

prob paul george from a couple summers ago?

Looked like it was in-game, maybe NCAA, I tried not to get too close to it. xp

Jenny Ondioleeene (Leee), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:41 (eight years ago) link

still haven't watched/seen the ware or pg injuries

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:42 (eight years ago) link

as someone with the jared sullinger body type i can say its def a big impediment to balling out

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:44 (eight years ago) link

depends, if you know how to post and use the weight as an advantage then you can ball.

Spottie, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:47 (eight years ago) link

im not too squeamish but id still rather not look at the pg injury after hearing about it

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 18:47 (eight years ago) link

tbh would be pretty rad if marcus smart actually turned into a good player, with his defense he doesn't really have to be that amazing on offense to get there, just not the worst ever

ciderpress, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 19:13 (eight years ago) link

― lag∞n, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 1:53 PM (1 hour ago)

one of the excuses i've heard for why 45 jordan wasn't quite jordan that initial comeback was he had 'baseball legs'. it seems a little crazy to me and soccer players usually have pretty developed legs (those dudes are just ripped in general though) so not sure why it would hurt w/ basketball (soccer players don't need to jump obv but would more swole legs hurt that really?) though maybe idk.

balls, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 19:13 (eight years ago) link

my completely uneducated opinion is its just a body type thing ppl who jump high tend to have that body type, like its not like these guys arent squatting heavy weights or w/e their legs just resist bigness, old jordan prob cldnt jump just cause he was old + generally put on weight

a. it is no surprise all 3 of the shows riles mentions are about ppl with massive amounts of political or financial power
b. why do i think he's watched the scene where zoe get shoved in front of a train approximately 6,000,000 times, possibly on repeat

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Wednesday, 18 May 2016 23:51 (eight years ago) link

i wonder what the triangle will think of this.

(it might as well be referred to as its own entity at this point)

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 18 May 2016 23:51 (eight years ago) link

He played that flex offense under Sloan which is a lot like the triangle

(•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 19 May 2016 00:04 (eight years ago) link

i kinda liked that theres still one team running triangle plays

ciderpress, Thursday, 19 May 2016 00:09 (eight years ago) link

When it's ran correctly it's great to watch and I still think there can be a place for it but not as your primary attack.

(•̪●) (carne asada), Thursday, 19 May 2016 00:14 (eight years ago) link

theres not too many teams it makes sense for right now because almost everyone has a good PG and the triangle kinda marginalizes their role in running the offense. utah could do it idk who else

ciderpress, Thursday, 19 May 2016 00:23 (eight years ago) link

also its just kinda antiquated at this point, the best elements of it have been incorporated into other offensive sets

ciderpress, Thursday, 19 May 2016 00:25 (eight years ago) link

its too slow developing is the main problem

lag∞n, Thursday, 19 May 2016 02:11 (eight years ago) link

Also usually relies on big (slow) point guards a la Ron Harper and with the hand check rules long gone the current two time mvp is a whopping 6'3 190

whoa

the whole bench just recoiled when they saw it

marcos, Thursday, 19 May 2016 15:04 (eight years ago) link

yr all-rookie teams:

FIRST: towns, porzingis, devin booker, okafor, jokic
SECOND: mudiay, winslow, willie trill, russell, myles turner

would swap justise into first for jokic tbh but p reasonable choices
