re: turner by "pretty decent" i mean "works well under proper supervision in good system." which i think stotts can offer; it's not dissimilar to brad's

re: turner'n hooch
he def improved his offrtg...93 at its nadir to 102 last year. career high 4 win shares last yr. terrible 3pt shooter, though he's shooting it less often from distance. def an incredibly shrewd move to give him almost $20 million each year while he figures out some basic shit abt basketball.

I was v cool with parsons choosing memphis until 2 seconds later when it meant the blazers slipped and dropped their rainy day fund on evan turner's agent

Clay, Friday, 1 July 2016 19:49 (seven years ago) link

werent they like just scraping the salary floor last year? they got even more space than most teams

WACKY DELLY

6 god none the richer (m bison), Friday, 1 July 2016 19:55 (seven years ago) link

they were just at the floor but this year dame's supermax kicks in and there's a bunch of rfa's (harkless, Crabbe, Leonard) who are gonna get big to decent offers that Portland will likely match so afaik the big prize is evan turner

Clay, Friday, 1 July 2016 19:56 (seven years ago) link

teletovic 3/30 to the bucks too, that sounds pretty good tbh

‏@solohill
Thank you to the city of Indianapolis, the Pacers & the Simon family for making my dream of being an NBA player come true!

This guy is on the top of my list of guys who will slip through the cracks and be wildly underpaid.

Beating a dead horse but that's the most fascinating thing about this era to me. These teams all go crazy the first month and then good players get contracts that are actually lower than what a fair market value would have been before the insanity.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 1 July 2016 22:01 (seven years ago) link

bucks are cornering the market on syllables

the only difference this year is that a lot of teams are signing guys to $17 million per year contracts in the first 48 hours and still only using up like half their cap space

J0rdan S., Friday, 1 July 2016 22:09 (seven years ago) link

lowe zing

And so he were are, in 2016, with the Knicks building a team designed to make the 2012 conference finals.

Yeah we'll see. It's hard to keep track of what's going on, but this feels like Wes Matthews writ large

Tim MacMahon
ESPN Staff Writer

Text message from Chandler Parsons on why he chose the Grizzlies: "I really believed in Coach Fiz. Nobody in the league has coached better wings than him. I trust [assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff] with my life. They have nobody like me, and their veteran, experienced players are a perfect fit with me.

"Toughest decision of my life though. Portland is incredible."
