i have something to say about the offseason THE 2016 NBA OFFSEASON

aside from following the "culture" a bit i cut bait w/the nfl a couple seasons ago, easier to do when you're a bears fan, less easy when you're a pats fan unless you're bored of all that boring winning.

i got bored of the pats circa 2005

havent watched a whole pats game this year, have watched every broncos game tho smh, but thats cause i like to hang out and eat fatty foods/drink beers

yeah fball is more of a social thing for me now. i don't watch intently like i used to. got some bros i do thursday night fball / poker with but its chill no one cares really, even this last week when it was my 9ers vs three cards fans it wasn't really sweated.

i think it's easier too when the product is such garbage and tbh so many of the star players have been around for so long and they're so dull. i think esp after watching what the GSW did last season and the lebron comeback and even hilarious teams like the rockets, it's just so much more fun.

being a titans fan in the big city means no one gives a fuck about my team and both the NY teams are fucked and the league is fucked and yeah it's been more of a semi-occasional bro down/cultural awareness thing for me this year than anything
but yeah basketball this past season was consistently entertaining and great to watch! Not that I need more distractions but even so.

I quit on football after the ray rice and adrian peterson twofer which with the rising concussion scares i just felt increasingly like the sport was anti-human death parade that future generations will describe in the bluntly brutal language it deserves. also I never had a local team which made severance easy.

otoh basketball has dunks and dunking is fun.

the concussion stuff is what put me off it initially, everything else just added to my general distaste and boredom. also the politics and the military shit.

nfl is still a great combination of strategy and physical ability but the quality of play is horrible these days due to injuries/player readiness/cba mechanics. on top of the concussion stuff it makes for a less and less enjoyable product. there are still some sundays in fall where i want to watch some football and chill or hang w/friends but my level of interest is way down.

cavs won a championship and indians are in ALCS, browns are 0-5 but they still dominate sports radio here, i really don't get it

nba infinitely more fun than nfl imo

football culture is just not my thing either

football is def immoral and repulsive

otm re culture ever watch a football game then switch over to the nba the contrast is stark

i must say i do find it very emotionally compelling when i allow myself to get into it tho, something abt that game

all the broncos fans i watch with are extremely emotionally invested but like dont really follow the nfl otherwise its kinda funny, was surprised with the intensity of bronocs fandom around here didnt think mild ol colorado had it in em

browns fandom is a spectacle in itself, the abject misery is something to marvel at

i know some broncos fans in L.A. and they're always on about that boring team, also john elway wasn't that good.

also it makes them insane that their hatred isnt reciprocated by pats fans

one of my last NFL conversations was with a Broncos fan talking about Elway, i think i said something about how his best season was really impressive, like don majkowski in 1989 good.

hate football culture and concussions and all that but honestly if the game itself was super exciting, I'd watch it. but it's boring af. I like seeing Odell grab passes, I guess.

i do love football highlights. i watch every one on nba.com every sunday night

I'll click on a recap of a game every now and then and will see scoring summary before deciding to view the game highlights video and it's like "3rd quarter...BEARS...2 yd TD run...LIONS 34 yd FG...4th qtr BEARS 44 yd FG...End of Game" and I'm like yeah I think I'm good w/o watching the video.

agree it is very boring imo, just a few moments of excitement amidst a few hours of stop/start nonsense

the grand championship game is watched by a billion people who want to see new commercials and maybe a good halftime show

I kind of like football but I'm really just looking forward to the day they put weight limits on linemen and invent some super helmets so no one has to die forty years early just because they played 8 years in the NFL

I think virtually every bit of strategy and skill involved would still be there if it was basically flag football

Taunting broncos fans is the easiest and most fun thing in football, they win just enough that you don't have to feel bad about it

Hoops is 1000x better though

Also goodell and the league machine can burn in hell, the old family cartel dynamic is so bad that football might be the one industry that could be improved by tech bros invading and DISRUPTING

football is exciting imo, between the repeating high leverage situations of constantly needing first downs the insane athleticism and the frequent come from behind wins its p tite

guys skilled at breaking tackles is one of few chances for excitement tho. but from what I've seen last 20 yrs there's much less of that going on than during Campbell/Payton/Sanders days.

For the casual football fan, RedZone is the best.

football is objectionable from lots of angles but being surrounded by cowboys teams, fans, and ownership for 17 yrs was basically enough to make me want to quit the earth much less the sport

I actually swore off football when Kaeperneck got into an offseason sex assault scandal.

i just watched dwight put up 26 and 8 against the cleveland bench and i'm having a hard time not getting excited

but i am glad reborn4hd has that fwd one minute button so i never have to watch him shoot free throws

if dwight is willing to work within the hawks system and not demand bad post ups he shd get a ton of easy shots

completely forgot dwight was on the hawks
