they got through the reg season pretty squeaky clean so it was harder for ppl to dislike them then

not looking forward to this board's flood of schadenfreude directed at this year's guaranteed-to-disappoint warriors :/

― brimstead, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 3:18 PM (nine minutes ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

in retrospect, the turn from constant mockery of the cavs and bron's #messybitchdrama and massive enjoyment of the warriors to embrace of the former solely to maximize schadenfreude regarding the latter was p stark and fairly quick here - certainly less so than much of the rest of the internet, who got all they needed the second lacob opened his mouth to go full techbro/#arrogantszn

yea sloth otm here the switch was very quick, happened like after game 3 of the finals maybe? maybe even later. at whatever point it a dubs championship stopped being completely inevitable

marcos, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:43 (seven years ago) link

i mean i am speaking for the board i was obv not a warriors fan though i had moments when i deeply admired them

marcos, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:44 (seven years ago) link

hardcore sports fans are always gonna turn against success p fast is how i break it down, the masses of casual fans of course still fn love the dubs, and rightful they shd theyre a super awesome fun team

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:44 (seven years ago) link

draymond does stuff on the fastbreak that horford and millsap can't, which is a pretty important part of golden state's offense. evaluating those three guys is pretty context dependent and draymond is pretty much perfect for the warriors. given how durant makes them even more perimeter heavy i think dray is prob their most irreplaceable player. if he got hurt for a significant period of time or had to miss part of a playoff series i think they'd have real trouble defending the rim.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:52 (seven years ago) link

goon has been a dray hater for a while, was proved wrong, and has moved the goalposts since. i don't think horford could have put up 32/15/9 on 6-8 from three in game 7 like dray did... millsap has put up lines like that before but i think on the defensive end he's still less versatile than dray. ultimately i would take dray over those two even just for this season, tho again context is important and i'm not sure i.e. the celtics would rather have dray than horford for this season.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:54 (seven years ago) link

imo horford cld do those things on the fast break, dray is mostly operating in space in those situations while the defense gets sucked towards the dubs shooter, his ball handling is good but its a lil overrrated its not like hes breaking defenders down in the open court or anything

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:56 (seven years ago) link

you know yr argument is bad when ur like i dont think player x cld match this one weird game, of course he cld i mean its just one weird game

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:57 (seven years ago) link

and needless to say drays ball handling is only exceptional for a center which is a position he plays not very much

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:59 (seven years ago) link

(but to great success in high leverage situations tbf)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 19:59 (seven years ago) link

horford can't push the ball at the speed draymond does off a rebound

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 19 October 2016 20:02 (seven years ago) link

not so sure abt that

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 20:03 (seven years ago) link

be interesting to see how the celtics use him in small lineups this year, they have an athletic team thats gonna run

lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 20:04 (seven years ago) link

horford is old

that is the extent of my analysis

brimstead, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 20:05 (seven years ago) link

i hope dray and kd have beef

i like draymond tbh, if i were a dubs fan i imagine it'd be like a "he may be an SOB but he's our SOB" situation

ALL IN ALL, it was not the best few months for Draymond Green. On June 10, during Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Cavaliers, some 20 million viewers caught him in the act of trying to slap LeBron James in the groin. Three days later, after being suspended for that act, he watched his Warriors lose by 15 before dropping Games 6 and 7 in the greatest collapse in Finals history. In early July, he was arrested in East Lansing, Michigan, on an assault charge resulting from a scuffle in a college bar. Later that month, Green accidentally sent out a photo of his penis to the world.

loool how did i miss that last part? i had no idea that happened

marcos, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 20:33 (seven years ago) link

he snapped it out during team USA iirc

“Best wishes,” Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald told Rose. “Except when the Knicks play the Lakers,” he joked.

the fuck kinda trial was this

Clay, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 23:26 (seven years ago) link

basically he did it but there wasn't enough to convict

Spottie, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 23:34 (seven years ago) link

i thought that's what "not guilty" meant, but the headline i read was "Jury rules NBA star Derrick Rose and friends did not rape woman"

judges love making comments like this

micah, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 23:50 (seven years ago) link

there may still be a criminal prosecution

micah, Wednesday, 19 October 2016 23:50 (seven years ago) link

civil trials usually require a fairly low threshold of culpability to award damages. if the jury awarded nothing at all as damages, then it might be not merely a weak case, but an extremely weak one, so that a criminal prosecution would be quite unlikely if that's true.

think it needs a category between all star and mvp candidate tho

lag∞n, Friday, 21 October 2016 15:00 (seven years ago) link

it loves ben simmons and isnt too crazy abt devin booker, young players are the hardest to project tbf

lag∞n, Friday, 21 October 2016 15:02 (seven years ago) link

i was surprised by booker too. it LOVES marcus smart

call all destroyer, Friday, 21 October 2016 15:04 (seven years ago) link

it seems to weight defense pretty heavily i.e. smart & justise winslow are valued twice as much as booker

J0rdan S., Friday, 21 October 2016 15:08 (seven years ago) link

it has the 2015 rated this way

1. towns
2. porzingis
3. russell
4. winslow
5. cauley stein
6. hollis jefferson
7. booker
8. cameron payne
9. kaminsky
10. myles turner
