Earlier this year we had a long discussion about team chemistry and whether it existed or could be measured. The Pacers are rapidly becoming this season's equivalent of last season's Lakers. All they have going for them atm is a very high seed. In the deeply rotten eastern conference that should be enough to get to the ecf, but mind-fucked teams have an uncanny way of falling apart. I voted "the field".

Aimless, Saturday, 12 April 2014 03:23 (ten years ago) link

it's weird too cos they 'seemed' like such a good chemistry team

field

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 05:53 (ten years ago) link

how can a team be the chemistry team and the not chemistry team in the course of one season, lol?

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 05:53 (ten years ago) link

such a weird turn of events this team

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 05:59 (ten years ago) link

yeah how can a team be the boringest team and the most interesting team in the course of one season

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:01 (ten years ago) link

lance almost got them to watchable status but then got all butthurt by not making the all star team and reverted back to old lance

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:03 (ten years ago) link

got a couple good gifs from him tho tbf

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:03 (ten years ago) link

just a bunch of regular guys (who hate each other maybe)

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:04 (ten years ago) link

the first half of the season it was like yo the pacers got this done deal guys but now its like uhhhhh they can't even score 80+ consistently and everyone hates each other

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:06 (ten years ago) link

they need a point guard so bad

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:07 (ten years ago) link

the ability to get to the basket is very underrated in the nba

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:08 (ten years ago) link

like kawhi leonard will never be half as good as tony parker

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:09 (ten years ago) link

most important skill

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:10 (ten years ago) link

i think so maybe, but also interior D which is the flip side

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:11 (ten years ago) link

did the heat have any of that last year? maybe birdman a lil

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:13 (ten years ago) link

the heat are very weird in that bron and wade are wing rim protectors, kinda made it all work although prob no one really considered it when that team came together

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:15 (ten years ago) link

yeah

back to the other thing tho the pacers don't have anyone that can get to the rim really, lance a little i guess

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Saturday, 12 April 2014 06:19 (ten years ago) link

the point guard thing just kills these guys. bunch of floor spacers and a huge guy with no one to create enough chaos for that stuff to matter the way it needs to

it's a trilby (Clay), Saturday, 12 April 2014 07:13 (ten years ago) link

I voted pacers to be contrarian and maybe the playoffs will freshen things up some, but bulls/nets/rappers just as likely depending how seeds shake out

it's a trilby (Clay), Saturday, 12 April 2014 07:15 (ten years ago) link

last night on sportscenter brian windhorst just came out and killed george hill, i was finally thank you for saying something.

call all destroyer, Saturday, 12 April 2014 12:00 (ten years ago) link

reminder the pacers traded kawhi for hill and plumdawg the elder for scola

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 14:19 (ten years ago) link

its really hard to figure out why they disregarded point guard so flagrantly putting this team together

call all destroyer, Saturday, 12 April 2014 15:18 (ten years ago) link

like kawhi leonard will never be half as good as tony parker

also, going w pacers bc i think theyll have an easy first round to remind them of why they love each other and then theyll go against toronto probably? im not sold on toronto doing thangs deep in the playoffs, even the east.

kawhi is v good but hes a complimentary player in the iguodala/george/deng mold not a star, if the spurs are gonna continue their dynasty theyre gonna have to find some more guys who can bend the game to their will

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:03 (ten years ago) link

i know, but half????

smooth hymnal (m bison), Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:08 (ten years ago) link

i love tony, he's an absolute beast, but look at spurs W-L without kawhi and W-L without tony rn.

smooth hymnal (m bison), Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:09 (ten years ago) link

what r u saying u dont think tony parker is that good smh and u call yrself a spurs fan

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:10 (ten years ago) link

half was just a figure of speech fwiw

lag∞n, Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:11 (ten years ago) link

im saying tony is that good and kawhi is almost that good rn.

as things stand now, what would pacers' (as the no. 2 seed) path to the ECF be?

Daniel, Esq 2, Saturday, 12 April 2014 18:15 (ten years ago) link

charlotte, then winner of chi/wash

the heat haven't lost to the raptors since 2010

micah, Monday, 14 April 2014 09:06 (ten years ago) link

not that i think the rappers would give the heat a series, but that doesn't mean anything. this team is a lot different than any other post-bosh team

surfbort memes get played out, totally (k3vin k.), Monday, 14 April 2014 14:56 (ten years ago) link

We're not against rap, we're not against raptors, but we are against those thugs

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Monday, 14 April 2014 15:02 (ten years ago) link

aside from the unhappy potential for a game 7 at the pacers' arena, i'm sure the heat are happy with the draw they get as the no. 2 seed.

Daniel, Esq 2, Monday, 14 April 2014 15:04 (ten years ago) link

i can't even really defend this but i voted for the pacers

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 14 April 2014 18:56 (ten years ago) link

why, you really don't think indiana's getting past either the bulls or nets?

Daniel, Esq 2, Monday, 14 April 2014 18:58 (ten years ago) link

well they've been legitimately horrible for months and seem to be in open revolt

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:02 (ten years ago) link

i guess i just think they'll "turn it on"

i think the nets are their only competition but i think that's a really poor match up for brooklyn

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:02 (ten years ago) link

i'm not as high on the bulls as anyone on this board... i think the nets will beat them 4-2 in the first round

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:04 (ten years ago) link

indiana will get there imo

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:05 (ten years ago) link

they can win games in the 80s in the playoffs

IKEA metaballs (Spottie), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:06 (ten years ago) link

the nets' paul pierece-mason plumlee frontline shenanigans are good vs the heat but wouldn't cut it vs indiana

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:09 (ten years ago) link

vogel is v smart and a good coach is a bigger deal in a 7 game series than rando reg season games

it's a trilby (Clay), Monday, 14 April 2014 19:13 (ten years ago) link

lol true it is total shenanigans xp
