feel like he shd prob sit out most of the season then pick a contender to help after the trade deadline, cld actually be useful

Why wait, just re-up with the Dubs, Nate Silver already anointed them.

cause he will get injured if he tries to play a whole season, guess they cld just rest him lol

Def trust Kerr to see and try stuff that hand down man down stubbornly ignored
Like let's see Livingston handling the ball driving the lane with curry and klay standing in their preferred spot up shooter positions, if I'm a defender I'm already basically having a heart attack and I haven't even thought about the other two guys yet
Feel like iggy has a lot to add yet and staggering his minutes with more bench guys or just making him the super sixth man is already halfway there
― z-time champion (agent hibachi), Friday, 24 October 2014 18:51 (nine years ago) link
Still feel like that team is paper thin but maybe that's just residual terror that a stiff breeze will ruin steph's ankles for good, though I do think any and all injury fears are still applicable to bogut
Everybody otm re reg season vs the offs on this though, basically if you make the playoffs with your top six guys in one piece you're good to go and can practically forget everything else

Grantland hour was pretty good! Lowe surprisingly decent on TV, seemed well rehearsed, doc seems a little older maybe since the Boston and sterling things but p chill and ready to go this year, the champ is here segment was p funny

Andrew Keh @andrewkeh 55s56 seconds agoThe Nets announce they traded Marquis Teague and a 2019 2nd-round pick to Philadelphia for guard Casper Ware.
marquis teague must be HORRIBLE

Ha I was just thinking yesterday that the nets should have tried to trade for Marcus Morris and corner the market on not-as-good NBA siblings

my literal kobe argument!
― snrub goin up on a tuesday (J0rdan S.), Friday, 24 October 2014 21:21 (nine years ago) link
i'm pretty sure i typed that exact string of 7 words itt recently
ha that article is terrible
Kobe chased off teammates? Would the Lakers have been better off keeping Bynum? Or building around Dwight Howard for $100 million over the next five years? Or keeping Pau to try to win 40 games this year? I’m genuinely curious about which lottery ticket the Lakers missed out on because of Kobe Bryant the past few years
the answer is yes they wouldve been better off keeping dwight and pau, and even better off dropping kobe and signing some better dudes with his money
― lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:23 (nine years ago) link
not to mention that scaring off roles players is also damaging to your team
― lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:24 (nine years ago) link
srsly if i were running grantland and one of my basketball writers made the argument that having nothing is better than having dwight howard and pau gasol i wld fire them
― lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:26 (nine years ago) link
Well then keep on making those fart jokes.

pretty sure - considering that the writer of that piece is the dude who writes the #hotsportstakes grantland pieces - that there's a biiiiiiit of tongue-in-cheekness going on with some of those claims. but yeah, most attempts to defend kobe that try to defend things other than what raw talent he has left are faaaaairly ridiculous.
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:46 (nine years ago) link
feel like he was srs abt that tho
― lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:48 (nine years ago) link
it's hard to say. i mean i hate the fucking lakers so its hard for me to accept anyone defending anything other than the absurd talent he once had and the talent he still has. folks who like the soap opera shit surrounding Kobe (aka many sportswriters, for various reasons) are gonna argue in favor of him somehow, some way, just to see the wreckage his continued presence leaves in its wake and make mad LOLs about it. i think thats all the article was, for better/worse
― slothroprhymes, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:58 (nine years ago) link
Marquis Teague's basketball IQ is one of the lowest I've ever seen on a NBA court
― Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 25 October 2014 00:01 (nine years ago) link
also iggy had his worst year since his rookie season which cld just be a super athletic player aging but one wld think we can improve on that, seems like the type of player that wld be helped a lot by better ball movement

The word on Iguodala is that he was pretty much liberated from carrying the offensive load so that he could focus on passing and D, dunno if the math nerds back that up.

he def had way lower usage than when he was the man in philly but youd think his %s wld go up and they did but not that much, his rebounding was off quite a bit too, which i guess he has bigtime rebounders in front of him is not that big of a surprise, i guess really its just this team shd be able to generate lots of open looks from three and he shd be able to shoot 40% instead of 35

iggy was 3rd in real plus-minus last year, behind bron and cp3. i have issues with RPM but it's not unrealistic to believe that iggy accepted a role that deflated his box score stats but helped make the team better

btw i think there were some summertime adjustments made to the RPM formula. at the time of this writing bron had 17.07 WAR and now the RPM page has him at 19.87. he only played at most 3 games between
