Xp Yeah that was such a gutpunch, took me forever to get over that one. Plus i can't stand the Seahawks but do kinda like Atlanta
― frogbs, Sunday, 22 January 2017 21:41 (seven years ago) link
I was in ATL for a concert last year on the day they played the Panthers at home and the fans on MARTA looked positively lit up and excited about their team. and this was before they really had hit their stride. I am happy for the city cos it's not like the Hawks are gonna bring one home anytime soon and LOL Braves.
― Neanderthal, Sunday, 22 January 2017 21:51 (seven years ago) link
ahh that's a good way to start the second half
tell you what, this defense is not the pushover it was earlier in the season. if they get this kind of pressure in the SB (assuming the result remains), they will be really hard to defeat

Does everyone want to see a Pats v Packers final?

not me but I hate the Patsies (then again, I hate the STeelers too).
looks like we're getting neither SB rematch at this point tho.

― An Alan Bennett Joint (Michael B), Sunday, 22 January 2017 21:58 (seven years ago) link
wow. Atlanta could be the favorite in the SB at this rate. I mean, this was a lean year for great teams, but the Steelers can be thrown on, and the Patriots played a weaker schedule. Patriots have the advantage in the coaching department and experience, so they could easily throw them off their game, but I think Atlanta would massacre the Steelers at this point unless Julio Jones or someone equally important got hurt in the game.

hopefully this is the game that finally ends Dom Capers career in GB

As a falcons fan I'm thrilled but can't feel comfortable until this is over.
― Heez, Sunday, 22 January 2017 22:25 (seven years ago) link
Got paged into work and came out and it was 31-0, what a whoop down by ATL.
The thing that impressed me when I looked at the Falcons stats earlier this week was how many rushing yards they had. Their top two guys got a combined over 1500 yards on the ground to go with almost 5000 yards through the air. Don't know if you have had a team combine that type of numbers in a while. Colts probably did it once or twice with Manning. I'd figure the Rams with Faulk had that type of mix.

Atlanta was a good job to take a couple years back as they had a good starting QB and really under Mike Smith they won quite a few games. It seemed that they had a bunch of injuries that kind of derailed Smith's last couple seasons as coach more than they had little talent.

ok i admit they're evil but on the one hand, the fans don't like trump & i don't think the *civil* war is the intention with the pat patriot guy
on the other hand, kraft and belichick friendship with trump not to mention brady refusing to say anything disgusts me

say what you want about bill but in the first question nantz asked him on the field he immediately put credit onto the players. that stuff is real and it matters.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 23 January 2017 03:45 (seven years ago) link
this is p interesting, clip from an old bill o'brien clinic where he is describing the concept that NE used to get hogan open so much today. always interesting how simple these things are on the surface, but of course buried in the overall complexity of the game.

― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 23 January 2017 04:00 (seven years ago) link
NE looked great that first month of the year without Brady, so in a way it is not surprising they are here now. They play who they play, it was just an odd fluke it was a schedule where they just happen to not play a couple of the big teams. It is the Pats best defense in quite a few seasons.

blount is wearing a matt patricia sweatshirt lmao
― call all destroyer, Monday, 23 January 2017 04:09 (seven years ago) link
yeah i am sure belichick is unbearably smug about how well the defense came together without jones and collins. if they hadn't been so healthy on defense that might've been very different. biggest difference has been the secondary, when the pats def was mediocre it was because they were so poor at db

Defense in football has changed, the cover corner is in many ways the big impact player where the inside linebacker used to be. One thing that Simms did state later in the broadcast today about the Steeler's defense is correct in that what they have works in the regular season, but their DBs have been roasted by Brady over the past few years and until Pittsburgh can beat NE, they are not going to win it all.
― earlnash, Monday, 23 January 2017 04:26 (seven years ago) link
xpost - have to find this blount photo.. i've been wearing this bright red sweatshirt during all the pats games for a month now because idk, once i put it on they started playing well & also realized it looked like patricia's. probably same size b/c it's this faux-vetements style, so it's like gigantic. i got kind of superstitious about it

The Steelers wasted little time in getting rid of LeGarrette Blount, releasing the veteran running back less than 24 hours after he left the field before the end of Pittsburgh's victory Monday against the Titans.
"We believe the decision to release LeGarrette is in the best interest of the organization and wish him the best of luck," coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday afternoon in a statement released by the Steelers.
