"Obviously we've had to do that and more than you would like," Pagano said. "But it's part of the game. Injuries are going to happen. You have to adapt. If you don't adapt you die. It's adapt or die mentality.

I guess it's happened every four seasons probably since they went to the expanded divisions.

Still this will be only the 12th game between the Steelers and Eagles since 1970 when Pittsburgh moved to the AFC at the merger.

Nick Wagoner ESPN Staff Writer

Full quote from 49ers coach Chip Kelly on QB Colin Kaepernick appearing on cover of Time Magazine: "I think it's an issue, you look at what's gone on in Tulsa and Charlotte the last two nights, it's an issue that's at the forefront of our country and it needs to be addressed and needs to be taken care of because what's going on is not right," Kelly said. "I think, again, he's shedding light on a situation that is heinous and shouldn't happen in this country. We all have inalienable rights as a citizen of this country and they're being violated and that's what I think Colin is standing up for."

What a whoop down NE has put down on Houston. Its about as bad as that hyped game a few years back when Houston wore the matching suits and the Pats destroyed them.

earlnash, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:07 (seven years ago) link

oh the letterman jacket game - that's a favorite of pats fans everywhere

i swear to god i'm not all about the meta-commentary on everything but it's going to be really fun watching patriots haters work out their feelings after this one.

and i know what it will be--houston sucked tonight. houston lost this game at 10-0. it's funny how many otherwise viable teams crater at the sight of a 10-0 deficit against the patriots.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:10 (seven years ago) link

the letterman jacket game is still one of the funniest things that has happened

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:11 (seven years ago) link

that was one of those games where you had to love how evil new england is imo

texans got their matching jackets (i blame jj watt) and were all hyped up to prove they were a top team or whatever

nah

whoops xpost

FREE BRADY (daria-g), Friday, 23 September 2016 03:12 (seven years ago) link

i remember it so well--a team with a decent talent level, coached by gary kubiak doing all the basic kubiak stuff, and they just got fucking destroyed in that game.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:14 (seven years ago) link

Fxxk, you got to give them props, this is about as perfect an executed game on all levels you can get.

earlnash, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:16 (seven years ago) link

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Friday, 23 September 2016 03:19 (seven years ago) link

yeah, i'd have to go looking for a comprehensive list but divisional fuck-yous are always better than non-divisional fuck-yous. the prevailing sentiment up to/after the letterman jacket game was basically "oh that's cute, they think their team is really good."

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:20 (seven years ago) link

blount loves the minutemen, a+ dude imo.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:20 (seven years ago) link

I don't know, they destroyed some clubs after the whole Practicegate thing went down. That was about as close to Barry Switzer Oklahoma beating the shxt out of clubs 84-3 as you get in the NFL.

earlnash, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:21 (seven years ago) link

oh for sure, all of 2007 was a fuck-you but maybe not directed at any team in particular.

i remember when they napalmed the washington football team that year, and there were certainly no strong feelings on anybody's part about the washington football team.

call all destroyer, Friday, 23 September 2016 03:23 (seven years ago) link

Divisional foes? The Pats have used the AFC east to clean their cleats heading towards two decades. Jets had one decent year and the Dolphins had one fluke, but the rest of the time they are just afterthoughts.

i mean the w-l record is what it is but there's so much hatred of the jets, bills, phins in that order. right now hatred of the colts is the main hatred. people here (and i include myself) just really hate the colts.

that result is just nuts. yet another example of how much belichick can use adversity to motivate his players to another level. not the most surprising revelation that the texans aren't very good but they are still probably the best team in their division so far.

meanwhile, feels like it wasn't even 2 weeks ago that the cardinals gm was throwing players under the bus for narrowly losing to garoppolo.

meanwhile Miami fans lamenting the "ugly win". you know what's bad than an ugly win (which is putting today's win kindly, to be fair)? a "good loss". worst fanbase ever.

sad that I didn't have Wentz's game on. good to see another rookie QB stud tearing it up.

Pats 3-0 with a 2nd and 3rd string rookie QB.
Eagles 3-0 with a rookie QB.
Broncos 3-0 with a first time QB.
Cowboys soon to be 2-1 with a rookie QB.
Vikings 3-0 with a QB traded right before week 1.

It is definitely a team game. Maybe it's me, but watching football the past year or so, it seems teams D are really starting to catch up a bit to the pass happy offenses, clubs can move the ball all the want but then when the field is short - it can get pretty hard to score. It seems quite a bit of the big passing TDs are when a guy gets behind the defense area outside the red zone.

earlnash, Monday, 26 September 2016 02:14 (seven years ago) link

On a fantasy football note, I got 32 points today out of the Chiefs according to my scoreboard. That seems near impossible.

Vikings 3-0 with a QB traded right before week 1.

& one of the wins with the now 2nd string shaun hill at qb
