Also worth remembering that if you buy a laptop from John Lewis you get a two year warranty as standard. You can also get them to match the price of any physical shop that stocks the same item - the process is a bit of a faff, but can be worth it.

six years pass...

Hello this thread. I've got a small amount saved up for a new laptop. I want it primarily to run music software like Ableton and Reason. Is PC World etc still the best place to go? Or somewhere more specialist?

Think you'll get more for your money and probs more choice at somewhere like ebuyer.com than at PC World.

You'll get better value for money online but if there's a PC World near you it may be worth dropping in to give their demo laptops a gentle rattle to see which ones seem noticeably flimsy or with a weird keyboard layout, etc

(then you can order online or at least shop around for deals)

If you're in London and want a Mac, I can DM you a solid 2nd hand mac agency guy

I'd prefer not to get a mac to be honest but cheers.

any reason I should avoid this one? http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/a1-refurbished-hewlett-packard-envy-15-ae107na-intel-core-i7-6500u-2.5ghz-1-a1-n7l09ea/version.asp
