After slamming back a few, I tend to come to the startling realization that the Vengaboys are MUSICAL GODS. That's some aftermath that's hard to live down...

I'd have to say Sultans of Ping's "where's me jumper". aural snakebite and black.

ten months pass...
The number one song on my list when drunk has to be Say It Ain't So by Weezer. Athough it's good sober, after a few drinks you can't help but singing it.

errr....Kenny Rogers - the Gambler

All music sounds better while drunk. One of the best parts about it.

fletrejet, Friday, 25 July 2003 01:32 (twenty years ago) link

anything by The Strokes.

Whenever I drink, I become slow and sleepy, so anything slow and sleepy sounds ACE when I'm drunk. I'm especially thinking of Air - Le Premiers Symphonique (or whatever it's called) cuddles me when I've had too much vodka.

Anything by the Pogues - only listenable when inebriated.

The Manics - I've never ever been drunk enough to enjoy a Chronic Street Preachers record. Is it possible to get THAT drunk?

I've been listening to Tom Waits off and on all week so there's an obvious candidate...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 25 July 2003 13:56 (twenty years ago) link

"Mexican Wine" by Fountains of Wayne.

three years pass...
"Three Peaches" by Neutral Milk Hotel (although it's more of a hangover soundtrack), or any Spiritualized.

Just tested; is perfect.

The Secret Machines, 'Alone, Jealous And Stoned'. The first time I listened to that song whilst bladdered I nearly had an epiphany.

Also, Merzbow.

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Sunday, 12 November 2006 08:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Merzbow seconded.

Also Codeine, or any other fuzzy music stretched out in time. Something about the drunkenness changes your perception of it. I think the theory here is that since your mind is moving slower, slower music is appropriate.

codeine drunk seems like it'd be completely amazing. i really wanna try that the next chance i get.

Really? I thought being drunk only enhanced cock-rock bands? I feel like songs with bad soaring vocals and fat faces, like Keane, would inexplicably be enhanced and sing-alongable.

Digestion is Easy (Digestion is Easy!), Sunday, 12 November 2006 15:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I just realized that Springsteen is the answer to this question. Born to Run during the high and Nebraska during the clumsy make out session afterwards.

Codeine! Good lord, now that's a band I haven't heard in a bazillion years! Listening to Codeine while drunk, I am so up for that.

Also Bob Dylan sounds so much better to me when drunk.

Spanish is the loving tongue by Bob Dylan is my favourite drinking dirge.

Certain Wire songs sound amazing when played at ear-piercing levels while you're stumbling around your household.

Particularly the Two People in a Room and The 15th combo on 154.

The entirity of Iggy Pop's Lust for Life album is enhanced by a good night of drinking.

Silly thread. Everything sounds better when drunk!!!
