Talking about an imminent bridge closure put my friend in a bad mood for a whole day.

wait, you're sick of atheism in general? or just the recent in-you-face atheism of dawkins, hitchens, etc. ?

Well, because we were talking about this parkway that would be needlessly extended and all the houses that would be torn down for it. And that relating to the bridge closure.

55) talking about urban planning with people

it made me wonder if it was closed for a significant period of time whether the hipsters of SF and those of the East Bay would become distinct from one another.

Well kind of exciting, but kind of a logistical nightmare, although I didn't have it as bad as some, since I take BART counter-commute. Not a bridge-failure, but the recent truck crash was just pretty lousy.

xp - you're right. i have this argument with myself all the time. but some of them just really rankle, like when there's a perfectly appropriate "real" verb that could be used instead.

I hate the bright ones. There's one on Colonial that probably causes wrecks.

Its flashing always makes me think there's an ambulance behind me after I pass it. Then I remember, Oh, just the electric sign.

^^ there's one as you go over the Bay Bridge from SF to Oakland that is bright enough that you don't need to have your headlights on to see. It exudes this blue glow for miles, it seems.

There's another bright horrible sign on 880 North, around Hayward I think. It's pretty ridiculous.
